Gutted the interior. Previous two owners neglected this thing. Getting ready to remove the carpet, pressure wash it, and wipe down the interior.

Last night, I was trying to figure out why my left headlight was shining different than the right one. It appears that the PO inserted the bulb in wrong - the middle prong was not in the up position. Now they both look the same and I have adjusted them for better lighting on the road and not in the oncoming cars faces. This afternoon, I finally got my Ultragauge programmed with everything that I want to see going on with my engine. It is weird that I do not have the ability to read oil temperature.:crazy:
I mounted the unit where the stock clock used to be located. When I bought the 4runner it was missing.

And you actually put to lips on the ends to wrap the frame!! That way they dont pivot or spin under use. Most people miss this simple step!! Good job!

I came home from work to find a set of 285/75r16 Cooper ST Maxxs had arrived in the mail! Of course the first thing I had to do was see how they looked next to the runner. I am extremely impressed by how aggressive this tread is. If they are anything like the AT3s that I had, then I am sure I will love them!
Why do people have to mess with the frame in the front ?for metal bumper ? My 97, I just installed the brackets provided by savage and that's it. No grinding or welding

Yes it does... it's a seeeeecrrreeeettt....
(lift up the centre console lid, but don't press the release for it..)
Sidenote: It took me 7 months to figure it out.

A lot of bumper mounts slide over the end of the frame rails and they won't fit if you have that stock frame plate attached. For my addicted offroad bumper, I just ground down the edges of the frame plate. Nothing too crazy

Different styles of design. A lot of plate and hybrid bumpers are using bolt on cross members that the bumper then mounts to. I talked to Roy at Savage and he's a really knowledgeable guy. When I ordered my skids from him I inquired about his bumper and install method. I just don't like the look of his bumper as much as Relentless.
I knew exactly what would be required to make this bumper work with my 97. Cutting the factory cross member, cutting the frame and prepping the end caps has taken 30 minutes of my time. Welding the end caps will take literally 5 minutes once I get the welder here.
If that's not your or anyone else's cup of tea that's fine. I believe it to be a stronger design and am willing to take the extra time to make it work. Once it's on I have no doubts my winch line will break before this bumper gives an inch. Lot's of really great bumpers out there for everyone. This way we can all choose the one that fits us best.

Because some fabricators care more about strength and winching than ease of install. My AOR bumper mounts like this and i would be worried if it was just bolted too brackets. His weld/bolt on cross member wraps entire front of frame strengthening the winch point.

After spending days, weeks and months searching the web, driving to local lots and meeting some very strange people on Craig's List, I finally found the ark of the lost covenant. You see, I live in southern Ohio where road salt is applied as liberally as pancake syrup by a 7 year old at a Denny's restaurant. Trying to find a rust free 4 Runner within 300 miles of here is about as likely as the Cincinnati Bengals winning a playoff game. Just as I was ready to give up, it happened. I located a 96' in almost perfect condition in Houston, Texas. After several texts, calls & video chats, I'm making the 15 hour trek to be united with my SR5. Im absolutely stoked. I feel like I'm going on a first date or something. Anyway, just wanted to share...,

Ahhh...I found it. Thanks!! I probably would have never found it, and it's spotlessly clean inside so I think the previous owners never found it either.

Excellent!! That's how I felt when I located my SR5 after searching many months. Two things I found out: A seller's idea of "excellent condition" is 180 degrees different from mine; Here in the Los Angeles area, it seems like every used car lot scours the supply of 4Runners in good condition, then sells them for ridiculous prices. I bought mine from a local dealer but I was able to negotiate a decent price. Since I was not able to really determine what maintenance was done (aside from the CarFax report), I've replaced all 4 ball joint, right front axle due to ripped boot, did a full engine tuneup (full mass air sensor service, throttle body sensor, front/back O2 sensors, rear cam seal, valve cover seals, plugs and wires, and lots of interior trim replacing. EBay has lots of parts but so did my Toyota dealer who gives me the "professional discount" since I've purchased tons from them. I totally enjoy my Runner. It's fun to drive a car that does not have electronic displays, GPS, etc.

You better rust protect that rig from the crappy ohio streets.

Better than the dash coin slots on my Camry... that shoot out the coins whenever you tap into the ~280hp. :bounce:
