Yeesh...glad you caught that. Time for a TBU.

Already ordered! Had to get some new hard brake lines to the caliper, too because they're not going to be usable when I'm done due to rust. Those things are hard to find, took some serious Google skills to find them!

On a side note, I ordered new pads and rotors to replace everything while I have it apart. The rotors I bought on recommendation of my friend who uses them on everything he has...pickups, daily drivers, race cars, etc. They're zinc coated, cross drilled and slotted rotors from BrakeMotive on eBay. It was $100 for the Tundra set including pads. I think the 4Runner set was like $70. I'll let you know how they perform, but my friend says he lays on them at 130 in his race car and is still on his original rotors after many passes, so he swears by them to the point that he was trying to get me to not do the TBU. Thought I'd mention it here in case anyone else may be interested.

I got these from Mr FedEx man

Buying First 3rd Gen 2000 SR5 4x4 200k S/C

Hello everyone I am a new member, but have been going through this forum for about a month now. I am currently in the market to buy a 3rd gen I always wanted one and I am tired of driving around a car. So my question is I found a 4runner i really like I test drove and looked it over inside and out it looks really clean and runs really well it has high miles, but I know what I am getting into the guy took good care of it and im ready to buy it, but I am hesitant because of the supercharger it has on it it has the 2nd Gen, but it has no fuel mods or boost gauge so this has me worried of the reliability, im not sure when the SC was put on, but the guy says it only leans out on the highway I am aware of the 7th injector kit. available i have been doing my research on here to find out as much as i can before i pull the trigger on this one. I live in Albuquerque and I ultimately want to make it my daily driver. I plan on taking it hunting and a little bit of offroading and mudding. Another option which i am not against is buying and taking the SC off and going back stock I plan on lifting it a few inches and putting aggressive tires on it as well. i am just looking for any input or advice from you all I know i am a novice when it comes to 4runners. the owner cant sell it till Monday (he's moving) but we agreed on a price of $5000 is this a good buy or should i keep looking. Thanks in advance

Waiting on bolts to install

Did you also order bolts online? I have new Toyota LBJ's sitting in my garage that I need to install as well - I want to do fresh bolts with em too. Any info on where you are getting your bolts would be great. :yo: Thanks.
BTW, you ever done these before? I have yet to dive into this particular job - is it simplistic or require professional skills?
Good luck on your install. Hope all goes smooth and proper.

For the bolts, at least for time, I would just call your local dealer. They're $1-2 a bolt. The part # you want is 90080-10066.

It's a very easy install, and mbtim has a great video that walks you through. (http://www.toyota-4runner.org/3rd-gen-t4rs/237304-opinions-ball-joint-2.html#post2688209). Should take you an hour or two. Loctite is your friend (blue) on the lower bolts and I think there's some confusion on the bolt torque specs. FSM says 39ish???? and I think most people torque to 59 (video lays all that out).

It's not even a six-pack job.

Bolts will be at my dealer tomorrow by 7am; $1.37 each

I have all the tools, including the loctite, and the torque specs/socket sizes thanks to the video [emoji106]

If I have time this Sunday I might just knock it out.

I got the bolts from a local toyota dealer, PN is 90080-10066, cost was $1.37 each. You need 8

Check out this post and video: http://www.toyota-4runner.org/2688209-post19.html it shows the entire process, Thanks to mtbtim

I've done this on other cars, it's probably a 3 on the 1-10 scale of difficulty if you have all the correct tools

1st gen 4runner roll bar almost ready to get mounted. Just needs a fresh coat of paint.

Nice wheel tire combo. We don't see that many people running the 34/10.5/17s on here. Any particular reason you settled on that size? Are you rubbing yet or is that taken care of?

I wanted a tall skinny tire but didn't want the mud tires for the 255/85/16. I took it out this past weekend and they don't run near as much as the 285/75/16. Gonna hit some rocks this weekend so they will get a thorough workout.

My new to me 2002 SR5 with 178k failed inspection a few weeks back due to lower ball joints. Going to knock out the rear suspension this weekend too.

I'd planned on refreshing the front end but not this soon so many things got bumped up to ASAP :) Just knocked out OEM LBJs, Bilstein 5100s, Moog 81090 springs, tie rod ends, sway end links, and Energy bushings for the sway and sway links.

I ended up going with AC Delco Professional tie rod ends after reading reviews that they're Made in Japan and stamped 555. Sure enough they are and hopefully hold up.

Also the Moog springs aren't cut the same as OEM and I had a heck of a time getting the passenger spring clocked properly. How important is this? I could pull the strut and adjust everything if this is critical but if not will leave it as-is.

I plasti-dipped my rear bumper. It was rusty and really unattractive. I also wanted it to match my aftermarket black front bumper. It came out really nice! Time will tell how long it will hold up. Now I have to deal with that rusty hitch because it makes it so noticeable...
