What Did You Do To Your 3rd Gen Today?

Well yesterday not today... but I finished putting together and installed my HID kit from The Retrofit Source. I was skeptical about just how good they would be going into it, but it is literally the difference of night and day.

Picked up a Yeti Hopper 30 (gen 1) for the back seat.

Also should suit the wifes 5th gen well for juice boxes and stuff for the kids.

I was able to do one lower ball joint. The tie rod cotter pin and nut were so rusted and useless that I spent more time trying to get those two out/off than on anything else. The other side was even worse so I gave up. Buying a sawzall and new tie rod ends tomorrow to hopefully finish the job.

Spark plugs, wires, boots, windshield wipers, and cleaned the maf. Throttle response and gas mileage is a lot better now.

Installed my Bilstein 6112 coilovers at the 6/7 position (1.64" advertised lift). I got 1.9" and the ride is firm but responsive on road. Better than the 150k original setup

Had a clean 01 Runner sitting in garage, grabbed detailing/waxing tool box and got with it. Bought in Feb 17 my first heavy duty wax n detail. 5 hrs later looking damn good for 201k mi mix in neglect from PO. Millennium Silver Metalic is a good color to work with.

Installed blue tooth module in my 96.
Fixed my hood (rot through the lip) of my 00. Maine winters...
Wondered if I can put my 00 plant in my 01.

Anyone have any thoughts if the ECM (2000/2001) is compatible, some other basic incompatibility or point me to a link?

Took it for a little trail ride to Stampede Pass off I-90.

Met up with John, and Lance from 4Runners of Washington FB group. They had a couple of 4th gens with V8s... very nice. We boomed out East on I-90 to the Stampede Pass exit and hit a fair amount of fire service roads and trails up that way. Man, it was dusty. I was super happy to get out and stretch my runner's legs a bit in the dirt. :lookout:

I found a short but steep hill to try out. It climbed right up without complaint. I got some trail pin-striping from some of the narrower trails. If was a fun way to spend the day.

Planned a day trip to Georgia, Kenosha and Webster Pass. Ended up only going on Georgia, my left rear shock ended up busting shortly in to it but wanted to finish at least one of them! Luckily I had brought the correct tools and was able to remove the shock so that it wasn't banging around 5 times a second. On that note, anyone have a stock 3rd gen rear shock in Denver?? Also Georgia Pass was a great trail for a stock 4runner!!

I hve 3rd gen 1999 limited T4r with 2.7 3rz fe engine. its OD has stopped working when i push the od button on the stick the light goes off but its not changing into 4th gear PLZZZZZ Help

At what speed are you trying to engage it?
Easy way is leave it on
Get up to 60mph+
Then disengage it with your foot steady on the pedal.
If the truck down shifts its working.

Rolled over 280,000 miles yesterday so I gave the old girl a lot more attention than the usual wash and dry. Today I washed, clay-bared, compounded (gotta get rid of those dog nail scratches :nono: ), polished, and waxed to get:

My 4runner build

Since my last update I've:
- had the 4runner repainted,
- fixed the antenna,
- installed the toytec boss lift,
- ball joints,
- tundra brakes,
- lowered the front diff,
- extended brake lines in the back,
- speed bleeders (+ new brake fluid),
- extended sway bar links in the back,
- Sonoran steel panhard bar,
- Shrockworks armor (complete package, front & rear bumpers, skids, and step sliders),
- flares (not shown in the pics I uploaded),
- powder coated wheels off a 2016 4runner,
- aligned,
- and I am sure I am forgetting something.
This weekend I hooked up the blinker lights in the Shrockworks front bumper, got the wheels balanced (again), waxed the new paint job for the first time.
Still waiting on a bajarack roof rack before I can call it done on the outside.

Tundra Brake Upgrade

Including new brake backing plates, all hard and soft lines and brackets up to the frame rails, and installing spacers I picked up from a local guy a few weeks ago.

This weekend I: changed oil, replaced transfer case shifter gasket, installed speed bleeders and bled brakes, changed spark plugs, changed air filter, replaced driver side front diff seal and CV axle.

Now I'm ready to drive her and not work on her for a little while...
