Installed AirLift 1000 airbags in rear springs on my 2000 Ltd - wow, what an improvement!! Took me a couple of attempts as I didn't have a Sawzall handy when I first tried and decided not to take all the other gubbins apart. With the sawzall to chop through the hockey puck bits of the jounce thing inside the coil it was easy.

COST! 96-98 MAF could be made of diamonds or something for what it costs for one. I've done this proactively, saw the mod over on Ultimate Yota some time ago, got the stuff together and went for it. I didn't need it yet, but wanted to give it a try when it's optional. Time will tell.
Well, that and messing around with the truck for the fun of it.

Yes. She's gone to bed for the winter. Had to leave town for a couple of weeks and you never know, that first salt spreading could occur before I get back. Not likely but it could. Wanted to put her away clean. Not like mine is a pristine example or anything but just the principal of it.

Pics of the wiring are in my build thread. The intake tube I used does have two vacuum ports, just pull the cap off the 2nd one. I'll update there how it's doing after some experience with it.

I haven't read Moore yet but I'll have to look a little closer at him. How's he compare to this guy? One of my top 3 favorite authors.

Me too, but still a great author. The Serge Storms series is somewhat along those lines but sharper. Different style but not. My current favorite series. I'd quess very very different in style and content, but oddly I haven't read much Vonnegut (had to google-cheat that quote) based on what little I know. If you like Carl Hiaasen or possibly Dave Barry that's more what Chris Moore is like. Tim Dorsey's similar but only if you add a whole bunch of caffeine and a sharper, inventive wit and a tad more...well....more.
Maybe Mr. Creeper has a better clue as to Chris Moore...

Lol. Vonnegut was one of the "People also searched" when I googled Moore. I've been reading Vonnegut since I was 14 years old. So 30 years now. He is one of the great satirical writers. I put Twain slightly ahead of him but not by much.
Do yourself a favor and read Cat's Cradle. That quote was the last line of the book. Many critics cite Slaughterhouse-Five as his best work, but IMO, it's Cat's Cradle.

I went to start taking off the backing plates to do the axle bearings/seals, and I've discovered another crusty component- the backing plates. They are literally swiss cheese. Never had a backing plate return to the elements before. I've had an old F350 that the brake shoes gouged the rub blocks so badly that I had to pull the plates, fill in the gouges with weld they fly cut them all back into the same plane. What else crumbles on these 'runners?
I had to order new backing plates from the stealership, they'll be available in the morning. I wanted to feel like I accomplished something today, so I tackled the rear shocks. They were crumbling away as well. Who designed that upper shock mount??? Would it have been possible to make it any less accessible, yet able to hold more sand/dirt/gawd knows what else??
