What Did You Do To Your 3rd Gen Today?

Got all my "leftovers" from the body shop, meaning all the parts left over from the used liftgate and my old liftgate including glass, seals, license plate bezel, wiper arm, wiper motor, rear door wire harness, etc. I'll go through them and keep what's worth keeping someday.

I painted my center caps with leftover wheel paint this evening since it's over 80 degrees here with low to no humidity. I'll let them cure for about a week then do the Toyota logo by hand and clear them along with the wheels.

Read a bunch of install threads and reviews about the Aussie Locker vs other lunchbox lockers today - I think I'm gonna order one. Any reason not to?

Are you going to get a 4WD version? Or put the lockers on your 2WD? A 2WD with locker would be a pretty capable machine. I'm not sure what I'll do with my front, a locker would be nice. I have the e-locker on the rear so if I got an ARB for the front I'd need a compressor just for that. Would be nice if there was some manual activation front locker mod available like Chuckles89 did for his rear.

The Aussie locker will go into my 2WD open diff. I think it will work out well for ice and snow driving and the occasional wheeling excursion.

I've read plenty threads about guys putting lunchbox lockers in both front and rear diffs, or a locker in the front with an E-locker rear. Lots of options.

Hahaha. What's another wheel right? LOL. I need to get back to something like a budget now.

BTW. This is what 3.5 BS looks like without any fenders flares. Because.... eff you paint!

If I were you, maybe consider some mud flaps if you don't have some already. When I had those wheels, even with the large flares, the entire side of my truck would be painted with whatever liquid I run over. My new Ray 10s have a less aggressive offset where the tires are flush with the fender and fling everything back into the wheel well. Just some thoughts coming from 3.5bs F5s.

Haha thanks man. I will keep an eye on it. As of now, I have little clearance up front at the rear of the front wheel wells at pinch weld area. I will have to gain more clearance before I can add anything up there. As for the rear, I would have to fab something. That... I really want the 3.5BS 16x8s but I don't know how stretched 265/75/16s would be. Stance looks awesome man. Ever thought about putting the small SR5 flares on?

I had 265/75/16's on my old Pro Comp that were also 16"×8" I think the looked fine and worked great. I think you would be fine. Plenty of other people run that setup.

As for flares, I prefer not having them. Hahaha, but ask me again in a couple months and I may be singing a different tune. I guess I'll see you this winter.

Nothing exciting, I just got a new Interstate Mega-tron battery because my rig came with the wrong battery installed, something like a H6 (?) battery. The stock battery hold down wouldn't even come close to holding the battery in place, I couldn't come up with a cost effective way of keeping the "wrong" battery in place even though it has almost the same specs as the 24F type that went in there.

Wrapped up the fuel pump swap out the other night.... Not a "hard" job at all, but that stupid breather tube at the top was ridiculously hard to get put back on.

Also, a floor jack on a paved floor would have been a lot nicer than a bottle jack, blocks, and a gravel driveway.

I've got the same size Nitto Ridge Grapplers. Just get out the hammer and the grinder. Don't know why you feel shitty for buying them . There a great tire from everyone I've talked to that runs them.

I didn't even know you where thinking of getting one. Just be careful the first time you hit snow on the street with it. They can act a little(actually a lot) funky until you get used to them in icy conditions.

Yea, I made a quick decision to research this through rather than delay and do nothing for another 3 years. I got luck last year not having to put chains on even once, but we know how that goes.

I plan to take it out for controlled practice under various conditions so I'll be used to it. I've read a lot about it and have a fair amount of snow and ice driving experience having grown up in NY and being a winter sports enthusiast my whole life. This 4runner is the first 2WD SUV I've ever owned, and as much as I love the truck I kick myself daily for not holding out for a 4x4 when I was shopping under duress.
