I started my 99 this morning and got to hear a sweet ROAR. Thinking maybe fan clutch after reading about it. Was hoping it was a vacuum line or something that would explain my newly developed hard/sputter start.
I ordered new silicone hoses and a fan clutch today. I'd for sure call this "throwing parts" at it since I haven't troubleshot since it happened at 5:30am on my way to the gym then I had to go to work...so this afternoon I will get more clarity.
I don't feel bad getting this stuff though...$140 in parts for 17 year old rigs, which even if the fan clutch isn't bad, one of my other two 5VZ's fan clutch probably is. I like having streamlined my entire arsenal to use mostly interchangeable parts. If none of the clutches test bad, I'll pull the 2000, give it a new one, and put the 2000 in the 1999, reducing the mileage on the clutch by 80k.

Just bought mine on Wed. evening, so, I made 2 copy's of my keys and bought windshield wipers :bounce:

Also ordered some LED tails (drivers side was broken when I bought the truck) and some Keyfobs!
It's not much, but it most likely the start of something that my wife is going to end up killing me over spending money on.

Replaced the upper a-arm bushings with oem. Almost 300,000 miles and 22 years old, they were well past needing to go.
The right rear bushing housing was working its way out of the upper a-arm.
What were the symptoms of worn upper control arm bushings?

How did you get the old ones out and the new ones in? I bought all the stuff to redo my OEM arms and ball joints, but part of me is thinking about just getting SPC arms, I just don't know about the longevity.
