Finally wore through another driver floor mat with my (apparently heavy) heel. I've had the OEM look-alike cheap sh*t from AutoZone in there for long enough, but I didn't want to go the WeatherTech route so I ordered a set of oak-colored factory floor mats off eBay... which I'm unnecessarily excited about considering we're talking about tan floor mats here. Unremarkable photos of tan floor mats to follow in a few days. :behindsofa:

forgot the most obvious for the upper control arm bushings- had the kid steer back and forth while I watched the arm. It moved forward and back as the wheel turned by a fair amount- more than could be assumed for a normal healthy bushing.
I confirmed the bad bushings on the lower control arm the same way (made darned sure the kid couldn't squash me while I was looking first).

I've gone through two sets of those and finally went with WeatherTech and couldn't be happier. Highly recommend WeatherTech and to hell with cloth mats

Getting a Bosch Platinum series AGM battery today. From my research, it looks to be a rebranded Exide Technologies product. I almost went with a Costco Interstate battery, but this was $50 off at Pep Boys, so I decided to give it a whirl.

NICE Christian!! That rig looks super clean. I briefly saw your rig the other day as I was pulling out from the pumps at Costco. I really like the way those wheels look on your black 4runner. Very sharp! Looking forward to seeing some more pics for sure.

Got a deposit on Sunday afternoon for mine, the guy met me on Monday afternoon to finish paying and take possession of it. I went for a nice long drive Monday morning with it and was questioning my decision to sell just because I was frustrated with the non-stop outlay of money/time to fix other idiots attempts at doing repairs. I got it to a point where it was running well, but I was too deep financially to start doing any mods. I wasn't going to be buried in it.

Tuesday Morning I woke up and fully regretted selling it, so now I'll start looking for a 2000 model, as I like the "refresh" dash layout but I don't want the electronic safety ninnies or that all-in-one MC/ABS module to ever worry about.

Changed lower ball joints, inner & outer tie rods and rack bushings. Tomorrow the sway bar bushings should arrive

Interesting, I took a chance on mine because it came with zero maintenance records. It was sold previously at a car lot so I guess they got lost there. In refreshing everything it after I bought it, it was obvious that it was well cared for except rust had been taking hold the last year or two before I bought it because the PO's lived in a ski town with salt on the roads. But mine has been nothing but cooperative with me. A few issues but no surprises. Goes to show what proper maintenance and not abusing it will do.

Fresh synthetics for the diffs, transfer case and transmission for hitting 410,000km! After many hood-deep water crossings and wheeling trips, I was pleased to find no signs of water or metal shavings in any of my fluids. The fresh MT90 in the transmission made a noticeable difference in shifting smoothness/effort. It's pricey stuff but I highly recommend it! People who drive my truck cant believe how good it feels for an original transmission with this much mileage.

I'm hesitant. They're build quality is excellent but I've heard their customer service is iffy which I why I didn't ask for longer than standard.
I just got the two tube support, textured stain black powdercoat.
I "had" to pick bolt on sliders mainly because fab rates are so ridiculous here. My plan was to spend $300-$400 a set of of Stubbs or savage sliders and have them welded. After looking locally and getting $200 quotes, I decided a $462 set of bolt-on sliders that came powder coated was the way to go.
They are also some of the cleanest looking sliders that are angled and tucked well to match the body lines.

There is a usually glut of maintenance many previous owners either defer, ignore or don't realize is necessary (radiator) over time and mileage, but your mileage may preclude some of these (lower ball joints) - but if not now, eventually.
BTW, there are others with lower miles, but double digits are always a hoot to read about!

Aside from maintenance and general upkeep, what are your plans for the truck? This is a great place to learn about mods for both performance and comfort and modernizing a 18+ year old vehicle. You can easily spend $2K on suspension, or wheels and tires, or a supercharger and not even get close to completing it! I would say do your research, figure out what maintenance the truck needs (plugs, wires, brakes, tires, etc) and see how much cabbage is left after the "must do" maintenance to keep the truck roadworthy and safe.

As people have noted before, Shrockworks aren't speedy. IIRC it took something like 8 weeks, though being part of a group buy may have been part of the reason.
No quoting me on this, it's been 5 years, but I think they said normal length is 61" to accommodate those with limited flares.

As far as customer service I ordered 65" sliders built for a 1" body lift and received just that. The back and forth email was prompt enough.
I also asked if the steel was American and got no answer on that one. They came to me marked as Mexican.

Installation required some patience with the nuts-on-a-stick and drilling some holes. I was able to do it by myself and some jackstands.

They've been on the truck over 5 years now. Been used on rocks a little bit here and there but most often with the hi-lift. They do flex when lifted by the hi-lift but not into the body and the doors open just fine.

I need to de-rust them from the rock chips on the underside and repaint. I did a rattle-can job, not powder-coat.
