Messed around with my retrofits a little and I accidentally finished them. Cracked the stupid black plastic piece so I had to order another headlight.

went back to the pick and pull, that '99 limited looked like it had been sitting there for 6 months- absolutely picked apart. I had to be sure that I was looking at the same one from a day ago.

Today- rear shocks installed, what a stupid design on the upper mount. ( not my first time doing 3rd gen rear shocks, it just never sucks any less ) I swapped lower foam/leather assembly from a passenger seat into the frame of my drivers seat, then swapped over the upper foam and leather from the seat back. I'll make a thread about it so I don't clog up this thread.

Finally got my new rearview mirror mounted up. Had it wired up since right after Christmas, but never could get those install kits to hold. I’d follow the instructions and it would pop off when I went adjust the mirror. Not sure what I was doing wrong, so I took it to a shop.

Nice! But I can't tell, what does it mount to? Windshield or the OEM mount?

I would also replace the Lower Ball Joints right away, you can see on the forum that they can easily fail and when it happens... well, you don't want it to happen. Also check the radiator, that's another good one to replace and/or complement with a tranny fluid cooler.

Finally installed the warm white LEDs for the map lights https://www.superbrightleds.com/mor...-5-smd-led-tower-ba9s-retrofit-car/2077/4722/ and the passenger dome light https://www.superbrightleds.com/mor...ed-bulb-4-smd-led-festoon-30mm-car/2107/4844/. I planned to do the trunk dome but the tailgate latch has been giving me problems and I have too much crap inside to access the latch from the trunk (already had the cover off).

The map lights were a bit of a pain to remove,same with installing the LEDs due to the increased length. They feel a bit loose in the sockets but passed my wiggle test.

Like other brand DE3175/30mm LED bulbs I've tried (Philips and Pilot) they're a little longer than the original bulbs, had to bend the slotted contact a little.

Both bulbs matched the warm white color of the stock incandescents,which is what I wanted. I can't comment yet on brightness until tonight.

I used superbrightleds in my rig also. I liked the warmer lights in the interior front domes. But I put a whiter color plasma LED (from Pep Boys) in the back for brighter light in the cargo area.

Have you noticed any flashing or pulsing of your LEDs? This is something that drives me crazy about the LEDs people use in their homes, but I haven't seen whether or not the smaller bulbs had the same issue. It's possible you may not have even noticed this effect, but I'm epileptic and fairly sensitive to any strobe light effects so I definitely notice. Incandescent bulbs don't seem to have this on/off cycling or flashing.

Drove nearly 5,000 miles over 2.5 weeks while out visiting family across the country. 4Runner runs like a champ; I should cross 300,000 miles sometime late this year. The miles add up quickly when you’ve got a great travel companion.

The couplers were ultra tight to slip on and it was almost like I got the wrong one because my airbox isn't bolted down with all 3 bolts because of the tightness of the airaid arm.

Thanks for telling your experience with this, When it warms up will be installing mine. Did you lube the couplers?

Yeah I lubed them pretty good but they are very tight.

No I haven't. Maybe because those home LEDs are low voltage and the pulsing etc. are from the AC/DC conversion and voltage reduction?

Ordered some 33x12.50 Duratracs. I also got a set of American Racing Outlaw II's. 15x10 -38 offset 4.00" BS. Truck has been at the dealer getting a shit load of Maintenance done. They are also installing my Toytech 3" lift with 1" rear lift spacer for the raked look. Will do a full write up with pics Once everything is done. Look at DAT DEEP DISH YO!!! Hhahha. She's gonna look bad ass,

I just installed mine yesterday. I'm not crazy about how the new hoses fit. I may need to trim a little to appease my OCD.
I read that you should take the whole assembly apart, put it together off the truck and install back as one piece. Of course I read that AFTER I installed it. Went on a little crooked on the MAF side but just wiggled it around until it seated right and secured it. I didn't lube anything though either.
My deck plate mod now goes hooooooooooooo annoyingly so I capped it. Can't say I notice any difference in performance or sound other than the air going hoooooooooooo lol

DC driven LEDs (like car LED replacement bulbs) will not flash at all. The flashing comes from either being driven by AC or by PWM modulated dimming circuits - neither of which are found in a 3rd gen 4Runner... (don't sit in any newer cars with stock LED interiors! You'll go crazy!)

It mounts to the windshield. I have wires running through where the old mirror bolts to the bracket. Let me know if you want to see some close-up pics of anything.

And I got some reading material to get me up to speed to take a HAM certification course.

My battery is pretty weak when it’s cold due to being 4 years old and the wife notified me I left the front and center interior lights on for about 10-12 hours last night. I went out expecting a dead battery and it fired right up!
