Your mpg changed after cleaning the MAF sensor? I’d be happy if I got better than 12 mpg lol. Then again, it’s a tank so it explains a lot. I am always skeptical about the whole cleaning MAF. Feel like most people have issues. :witch:

I cleaned my MAF sensor and saw an increase in mpg of... zero. Shrug. Maybe in some cases the MAF is the culprit, but mine looked fairly clean to begin with, so predictably cleaning it made no difference.

I think the same applies to all "incredible increase in mpg!" posts here - yes, if a particular item was particularly neglected or worn (MAF, spark plugs, injectors, O2 sensor, etc), then yes, cleaning/fixing that item will help with mpg. But if yours are not neglected/damaged, then I would not expect an mpg gain by simply replacing them.

Don't get me wrong, I am also going through all these possible culprits to see if I can improve my mileage, but based on my experience to date (i.e. zero improvement), I am not expecting any miracles. That BG 44K additive is my next step, but I am not holding my breath.

put in rear shocks from a 2017 trail edition. got them cheap. seems to work fine. ordered the parts to change valve cover gaskets, yes half moons, full moons and all. and a new radiator.

why the change? were you chasing a code?

pre-emptive maintenance? or also chasing a code?

I had a P1135 code thrown (CEL, TRAC, VSC all lit up). Tried the easy two first of cleaning the MAF and ensuring the gas cap was tightened down. Then figured - I have 173k miles on the original O2's.. they are probably done. Runs like a champ now. No codes.

I cleaned the MAF because it was triggering a code (likely because I had used an oiled air filter upstream and some of the oil had gotten onto the sensor and subsequently attracted a lot of dirt; now I just use Toyota air filters.) After, but not directly related to that, my mileage began to decrease so I recently swapped the O2 sensors.

I paid $650 for the wheels and tires, then another $40 for valve stems, balance, and mounting. $690 total is a steal, but I don't want to brag :lock1:

What did you do to your 3rd gen today?

Disabled DTRL and put in some GE Night Hawk sport bulbs.

Also tryin out the Yeti Ice in the RTIC 20 qt. It’s still rock solid from Friday morning. The ice was pretty wet when I put it in the cooler and soon after it froze solid. Ill get one more yeti ice pack for my RTIC 45qt.

The sweekend I've been playing around with the Limited fender flare set I got from a head-on wreckage. I am putting them on my SR5 that had the skinny chrome ones. The twp front fender flares were bent from the impact but they came back surprisingly nicely with the heat gun.

The front fender flares go on real easy, they bolt right into the holes under the arch. The rear arch flares aren't quite so easy because the holes don't line up, I will need to drill a hole or two under the fender arch. The panels on the doors are the tough ones. There is no way to mount them without using double sided tape, glue, or drilling holes. I am definitely not drilling holes in my doors so it will be double sided tape, then. The lower trim piece under the rocker panels can go on by drilling holes through the lower pinch weld ridge that sticks down. I don't mind doing that because there's already drain holes through it from the rocker panels so no difference there.

I fixed my rear window defroster by recrimping 2 broken wires in the top of the tailgate and changing out the switch. I got the lights working in it too!
