What Did You Do To Your 3rd Gen Today?

Took my sway bars off (which will probably stay off since its no longer my DD) in preparation for my upcoming trip to Hidden Falls this weekend. Also am mocking up a new place to put my CB.

I'm thinking somebody really cranked on that tie rod. Wrench, pry bar or whatever they used. Should have torched the nut to loosen it up when frozen. Looking like the aligner person almost created a catastrophe.

Looks to me that the LBJ was replaced recently and the outer tie rod end is not fitted securely into the steering arm of the LBJ. Unless the alignment shop were the ones replacing the LBJ, there would be no reason for them to even mess with this to perform an alignment. I'd point the finger at whoever replaced the LBJ.

That said, a competent alignment shop would have noticed the problem and not attempted to complete the alignment.

Made it to a milestone (to be honest though less than 500 of those miles are mine). To celebrate, I tore the entire dash apart for dash lights and to install a CB and trans temp gauge (following Timmy's lead )

Looks like you have that press on real wood kit also. I took all mine off and it was a pain.

Replaced my brake lights, fixed a bum turn signal switch, and got my rear heat working.
Today was a good day :reddance::reddance::reddance:

Edit: Just got a leaky CV boot fixed with a hose clamp and the cargo light now comes on when the hatch is open.

Should've taken more pictures but was too busy working. The aftermarket front/rear bumpers actually fit very well, I was worried based on some mixed reviews but am happy for now. We'll see how they hold up.

• Wrapped up a full dash light LED conversion to green or white. Started replacing a few burn out bulbs and decided to do everything.

Brakes have not been working so well lately. Did a good bleed. Didn't help. Thinking the brake booster is leaking and needs replaced. Found a leak at the heater core valve. Tightened up hose clamps seemed to help. Cleaned up terminals and reconnected the winch and fog lights.

Gave her and wife's truck a wash then took a walk through Fairmount Cemetery.

Then saw a wrecked aircraft near the sonic. Not a normal sight.

I have a northeast tire store chain that I use (Town Fair Tire). Whenever I get an alignment on a vehicle with frozen tie rods they make me take it to a shop down the street to get the nuts torched and loosened, they won't torch it them themselves. They said they don't want to break anything cranking on them. So I think it is possible. But yeah more likely seems somebody did some bash removal or fitting on that tie rod or LBJ and cracked the cast. Could do this slamming a curb the right way too.

Drove it to work and smoke started coming out of the lower dash near ash tray location!?! right rear speaker started making an odd noise as well, checked speaker terminals still in place not contacting anything....

Anyone ever have the factory stereo burn up?

removed nss...cleaned switch..copper area, used deelectric stuff when putting back together. I have noted that toyota wants alot for a new one along with labor. It was really gunky and cleaned up good. Hopefully this will work out when i reinstall. hwell:

I checked the SPC group buy page and it says they're no longer doing it due to some fraud or something.
