I left this morning to get me cup of coffee, I noticed the damn CEL was lit up again. I stopped by an Advanced Auto Parts for a free scan, hoping that the P0420 wasn't back again. I got lucky, it came up as the TPS. Advance wanted to sell me their crap brand for $35 claiming it was as good as OEM. I just snickered and told them no thanks, the stock one lasted 200K miles.

A quick stop by the dealership where my friends wife is a service writer, she used her discount for me so it was only $50. I'll have it tomorrow. Now I need to search to see if there's any sort of re-calibration sequence to do once the new one gets installed.

I fixed my rattling rear view mirror. Took everything apart, and then replaced one of the two little compressible tube thingys with 3/16" rod. Worked perfectly. I was originally trying to put the rod on both sides, but it couldn't quite fit. So put the original part on one side and the rod on the other, and no more rattle!

Those appear to be rears, otherwise I’d be all over it!

Swapped my number 3 coil to #1, hoping the misfires follow. Got a new one ready to swap in from the dealer if it’s confirmed to be a bad coil.
I electrically tested it and I got 1.3-1.4 ohms at the harness connector which is just barely out of the 1.23 ohms spec when hot, which it was. Fingers crossed

Finished fabbing and painted my rear bearing puller. It works great, got the passenger side all apart and hoping to put it back together tomorrow.

I went ahead and fixed my broken fob
Found out the alarm actually works.

Replaced the fuel filter. Somewhere along the line I think the filter was replaced with an aftermarket one and whoever replaced it f’d up the fuel lines and stripped the crap out of the nut. What should’ve been a 10 minute job turned into an hour job I couldn’t get the fuel line out and it was a PITA putting the original one on.
Shout out to Timmy the Toolman btw his vid helped out a great deal.

Today I say farewell to my 1996 Toyota 4runner dubbed "Island Paradise". I have finished my 3 years of pre-clinical education on the island and I am now returning to the States for good! I spent a lot of time looking for the right owner that would take care of her as she took care of me. She was my first introduction to 4runners and I'm now a life long admirer of them. She taught me a lot about wrenching and I hope to one day own another 4runner.
