Installed this Manik grille guard I picked up last week, sans the light masking horizontal bars.





Some KC HIDs I had left over from a failed project will be gracing it soon. I also replaced the Monroe Reflex Quickstruts some -expletive deleted- had put in, which had definitely not helped the handling. Moog springs, Bilstein 4600s, Toyota strut mount and rubber cushions.





Much happier with ride and handling in the front now. I will be replacing the antiroll bar bushings later today.

With the rainy weekend I decided to finally get to deadening the doors and installing some new speakers. It's been about 95 and super humid lately it was unbearable to try and get work done on her. It sounds 150% better now [emoji445]

i have a 99 with 285k...original starter..dont need one but know that its possibly in my future..did you follow a tutorial..that sounds like a hellish experience...i have looked at pulling it out thru wheel are..that sucker is probably heavy...damn just thinkin of that job bothers me.

I've never pulled the starter on an auto trans, but have several times on the 5 speeds, I can pull 1 out in maybe 10 minutes tops. Just 2 bolts, 1 cable nut, and a plug. Its not that heavy.

Pulling through the wheel well isn't hard, it's a little heavy for the akward limited space but it does slide out and fit in like "Tetris". The auto requires removal of trans dipstick bolt on side of block, brake line bolt on inside of rail, but as stated 2 bolts, 1 cable, 1 plug (for starter itself) and tire. I found the plug stubborn to unplug. I've done 3 3rd gen starters each about 30-45 mins all 4wd through wheel well.

Changed my door lock link clamp due to it breaking(the plastic clamp that’s connected to the door and holds the rod) and I also changed the door lock control snap (the plastic snap that connects the rod to the handle ) at 327,300 miles

Fed up of the power antenna breaking in carwash....lost my third one, first one at the dealer, one by me (it stuck in up position) and one by my daughter who was too busy grooving to notice it was up! :-D

This was astoundingly expensive for what it is but I'm super lazy:

Expensive? And didn't you need to unhook the wire from the radio to install?

I had a SWITCH for my power antenna to manually operate it, but I'd think a shorter antenna may hurt distance?

Front brake rotors

Hello everyone.
Could you help with solving problem with front rotor?
It has terrible vibration on high speed, when trying to slow down.
I think it's rotors fault.
any other ideas?
or could you advise any good rotors for good price?

Your rotors are warped it INCREDIBLY common on these trucks. Just replace the rotors and you’ll be good to go. For most problems with these truck if you google “3rd gen 4runner (fill in your issue here)” lots of threads will come up and you’ll get your answer the quickest. Welcome to the forum.

Most sensors start to go by twenty years, so expect to replace, though i only recall one other instance, on a Lexus, where after cleaning the IAC it still stalled but after changing the TPS, all good.

The AC clicking was weird too. But hey, all good for ya now....:cheer2:
