The heater control valve on the firewall next to the heater hoses is definitely worth a look- many are beginning to crumble at this age.

Heater hoses. IF rear heat there are 2 extra hoses, then steel lines that runs down under the body on the right side. I believe the newer metal lines are not so prone to rust as the older version is.

The 2 hoses that run from the back of the intake manifold and the pipe to the IAC under the throttle body.

tore apart my blown rear diff. Pinon gear split apart, wonder why. Fluid levels were good ( synthetic amsoil for the past 3 years with a change in august and less than 20k), all bearings are smooth in rotation

Stealth mounted a light bar. Still need to wire it up and paint the brackets.

What did you do to your 3rd gen today?

Ran over 180k and still love it as much as the first day. If only all relationships were this good.

Steam cleaned the seats. I got the car in September, and it has a weird funk that I couldn’t get rid of since I picked it up, cleaned the interior plastic bits, cleaned out the crud that has been caked in spice the cup holders, and aired the car out a bit, to no avail. I cleaned every seat thoroughly, and didn’t move onto the next part until I saw white foam being sucked into the hose. I emptied out six tanks full of dirty water the color of chocolate milk. It’s gross. The previous owner was a pig.

I just used our consumer grade Bissell carpet cleaner. If the water looked that dirty, I was wondering what the water would look like if I had rented a Rug Doctor to clean the seats. Anyway, the interior smells much better now.

Last summer I pulled my cloth seats out and hosed them until the water coming out was clean, which didn't take long so I guess they weren't that dirty. Only took a day to dry in the sun. Not sure where the smell was coming from since I did the same to the carpet. But seems OK now except for the dashboard carpet I bought which gives off smells as well when the heater is on, bad plasticky smells that almost smell like funky carpet. I guess it will go away after it all vents off from the new material.

Yea, don’t know where that smell came from, as I suspect it’s a combination of a lot of things, and it’s been noticeable since I got the truck. The smell is hard to describe, but it smells like a generic old dude’s aftershave, and not fresh, either. Not BO, just like a lingering aftershave funk. Wen I cleaned the car out it was also apparent that the PO probably had a dog inside the truck pretty often, as there was dog hair in retain hidden areas. The dealership did its best to clean it up, but I found more. I have a carpet kit on order, and hopefully it’ll get delivered next week, as I’ll be home alone (wife and kids are in Disneyland), and can tackle that project in peace.
 
My Emergency Brake Bell Crank is so dirty it is seized! As hard as I pull it will not free. I tried heating the pivot points with a torch avoiding brake lines with the torch and still nothing. Anyone had this problem too? If so were you able to un-seize and if so how? Thanks.
