What Did You Do To Your 3rd Gen Today?

It continues...

Wasnt as productive this weekend with money running short, so more ot I pick up.

So, I cleaned the engine bay while cleaning the MAF and tracing vacuum hosing trying to find the cracked one. Also, while I was there I was trying to find the source of an oil leak. Its a minor one but it drips on everything and annoys me.

MAF Cleaned
Seafoam done
Picking up O2 sensors in an hour
Engine cleaned
began rust clean up and protection for undercarriage

Next week I will be doing the upper ball joints, rear endlinks, and fuel filter.

Replaced both rear license plate bulbs, the Amazon LEDs I put in there about a year ago both burnt out.

Replaced with new Amazon LEDs from the same batch. I will expect them to die in a year's time. Cleaned the plastic lenses while I had them out.

I also replaced mine recently because the incadecents were both burnt out but I went with the Sylvania LEDs from the parts store. I also run them in my dome lights because I got tired of the eBay/ Amazon ones flickering or burning out. Not cheap but buy once cry once! They are also pure white instead of the 6k bluish color the cheap LEDs usually are.

I am running some eBay reverse light led bulbs that are bright as hell but I figure since they are only used a few seconds as a time, they’re less likely to give me problems.

Guess you figured out that you don't pull the tubes....just doing valve cover gaskets, or?

I just took mine on a 4 hour round trip to go shopping at some outlets. She ran well but there's a vibration coming from underneath that I need to investigate. Me thinks it's the rear driveshaft CV joint, I was never satisfied with the hack job that the local drive-line shop did last year.

Today I finally was able to get the rear axle rebuilt with new oem axle seals, fluid, flipped the retainers, wheel bearings, install new oem drum brake kit, rear breather, the whole nine yards.
Thanks to Tim and Sean of Timmy the Toolman on youtube.
Everything went flawless and I would have never would have attempted this repair without them. I mostly assisted here and there along with cleaning off all the gear oil that has been causing a mess for the last 4 months. The right side bearing was near detonation as it was causing all my fluid to look like silver metallic pearl paint.

bought some MAF cleaner, BG44K, new O2 sensors (F & R) and new spark plugs. going to clean and change it all in a few days. hope fully pick up a few MPG's

Changed out the front brake lines with the Wheelers SS ones I have had since 2011. The right on was failing and acting like a check valve after about five miles of driving.

Clear coated the high temp vinyl decals I put on my 231mm calipers last weekend. I had ruined one of the decals after using the automatic car wash this week, but luckily I had a spare. We’ll see how well the clear coat holds up after it cures.

Got a CBI rear plate bumper with a swing out.... this thing is so beautiful.

Got a table drop down, as well as an angle spare wheel holder. Planning on building either a Jerry Can holder or a RotoPax mount.

No. A spark plug was severely stuck in the number 3 cylinder. I tried everything, p b blaster, yield, finessing it back and forth, soaked it with penetrating oil over night, heat, finally I gave it the onions and broke the nut off the threads. So it gets even better... Got a screw extractor, removed what I could of the broken plug and tapped it into the threaded section of the plug. Tried to go easy, then a little more, then finally the screw extractor broke... So now I've pulled the valve cover in hopes to get closer to the thing and the tubes are in the way. I've watched a few videos on how to remove them but none for the runner.. so I was hoping someone had ran into this before and knew how to get the tubes out.

Did the projector retrofit using mini d2s 4.0 square projectors. Loving it thus far.
