Spent my entire shift at work on the computer planning out a future build and cruising this forum before deciding to register as a user.

Replaced the radiator cap with a factory one (PN: 16401-31650). Noticed it was leaking the other day and made sure to replace it before it completely gave out.

I grew up in Juneau and last I heard the state was talking about cutting the budget and getting rid of the ferry system. Hope that doesn't happen! A lot of the coastal towns depend on it especially with no roads out. I remember going to high school sporting events on the Ferry. Good times

from what was told is its the small ferry system they are thinking of cutting, the ones that run to small towns. The big ones mainland to Alaska is profitable. I think if and when they go to try to cut the small ferry system there will be a llot of push back and it wont happen, otherwise it will kill small towns

finally got to do my rear wheel bearings and seals. took me all day, working by myself, haven't been able to bleed the brakes, no one around today to help...they all went to the coast

This weekend ...

replaced 4wd switch/sensor in the front differential (got broke during JDM swap somehow). Switched out front seats with what looks like factory fresh sports seats from a 2000 LTD. Replaced rear hatch latch so that the cargo light comes on when the hatch is opened now. Reinstalled front skid plate. this week is new cat back system build and possibly rear bearing / seals this coming weekend.

New windshield installed at my local Safelite shop.

Initial impression is installer did a good job but I did notice a small opening at a corner (gasket missing) and the gasket along the side in one 4 inch section is not staying attached to windshield.

Have to keep an eye on it over the next few days and look for leaks when we get rain in 6 months.

if your doing rear bearings and seals, make sure you watch the videos and read the threads
just did mine and the videos and threads were a big help. Only place I screwed up was getting a new seal in, luckily I had read about people having issues, so I ordered 3. Ended up needing 3.

Over the past few days I did extended 2nd gen sway bar links in the front and front 3rd gen in rear.
New oem tie rod ends.
New pan hard bar bushings-white line
New brembo front rotors
New akebono front pads
New rear extended wheelers Offroad steel brake lines. ( front ones changed prior)
Changed out my rear hatch with one I found at the yard. Same color and everything .
Most lights changed out to LEDs. (Missing cluster).
It’s been a busy week but it’s coming along. I’m saving for a front bumper and retro fits so well see!

Blew my last spare 10 amp fuse

Trying to figure out this dumb issue with my tail 10a.. somehow, someway, it has to do with my liftgate lock actuator being unplugged. I just want my damn hatch to stay locked when I hit the unlock button, but I think I’d rather have working instrument panel lights than worry about it any longer.

Probably forgot to plug in the hazard plug. Horn work? If not, that’s your issue.

Maintenance, etc

Did a 12qt. trans flush using Timmy the Toolman’s video. I’ve only had my 2001 SR5 for about 6 weeks, and I’m continually amazed at the overall condition. The underside looks like it rolled off the assembly line a few weeks ago.

While under there, I noticed my sway bar bushings were cracked. I’ll add those to the short list of maintenance items. My box containing Toyota LBJ’s and bolts arrived today - those will be installed this weekend.

Last week I replaced the ill-fitting aftermarket floor mats with an EBay set from Toyota of Long Beach. I also added a Weathertech cargo liner in gray to match my interior. I had ceramic window film added as a heat blocker to help with the SoCal summer temps. Sometimes it’s the little things.

Still sorting a dead spot in the steering. The steering responds instantly when turning left, but has “dead space” of about 3/4 inch when turning right. Any ideas would be appreciated.

how long did it take you to do the job?

if I had help...no problem in doing it in a day
but I had the tools, the parts on hand
where I lost out was bleeding the brakes when I was done, no special tools on hand for that, nor speed bleeders, so had to wait for today for help on that
otherwise...the press..the tool mtbtm recommended would have made it a one day deal with no problem
regardless...with the help of the videos...buying the press and the tools...I still saved money over what a shop would have charged...esp a stealership and I got tools to play with in the future for future repairs and I know its done right

Finally finished off replacing the entire AC system, got it charged up and puffing cold air now. Will be able to keep the windows up and not fill the insides up with yet more dust

Of course, it'll be months before I need it though

That's definitely it. All the turn signal wiring goes through the hazard switch.
