Years ago I wanted to add some stuff to my motorcycle trailer and a welder wanted $240 to do the job which I thought was outrageous so I found an old Lincoln arc welder in the Recycler(old classified paper like craigslist) for $100 and took a whack at it. It's really not that difficult, and a great skill to have especially now with youtube. I eventually stepped up to a MIG welder and have built a couple trailers and fabbed all kinds of things, even the tool for pulling the rear axle bearings on my 4runner, and I just welded my Stubbs rock sliders on last week !

My trade is carpentry but I've done some welding and took a week long welding class at CU in Boulder so I can appreciate a nicely done bead.

Recently installed the medium Dobinsons Springs, Struts, and Shocks. Did the install myself and it’s AWESOME. Should have done this upgrade a long time ago!

Do you have pics of the install? Looking for an upgrade for the 3rd gen. soon.

Mounted up some solar panels Gonna do a full build thread on the solar panel install, dual battery setup, charge control circuitry, CS144 Alt upgrade and wiring upgrade once I meet the post requirement... I've been lurking on the Runner forums for a while but now that I'm deep into the modding on this '00 I figure it's time to share :artist2:

Haven't done much today but in the last two days, I purchased and registered my first 4runner! A silver 1998 SR5 with 157,xxx miles on it! I'll snap some photos of it today or tomorrow and add them to the photo thread.

“Installed” my ultragauge by plugging it in and velcroing it on. I’ll move it somewhere better soon but only had a few minutes.

Transmission drain and fill (Valvoline Maxlife).

Power steering flush (Valvoline Maxlife). I used a fluid evacuator I bought specifically for this and it worked great with no mess. I ran 2 quarts through until it looked clean, but after I bled it the fluid was dirty again? I'm going to do it again.

Cleaned power steering reservoir and new o-ring.

Checked spark plug torque.

Wiper blades (Trico Ultra)

Rear sway bar links (MasterPro K90681). Used the longer front ones. I have 2nd gen rears in the front I think. These O'reilly MasterPro ones hold up surprisingly well compared to other ones I've bought.

Rear shocks. I was going to get 4th gen 5160s but they were backordered for a month so I got another set of Tundra 5100 from Wheelers. Plus I would need bump stop extenders for the 5160 (probably should have them with these 5100 to be honest). Those one piece lower bushings they use are a bastard to work on to the mount. I put anti-seize on the top threads and then put a vacuum cap over it to keep that hex hole clean hopefully.
