Vintage toyota front plate

Made a cheap old-school toyota plate. Plan to sandwich it between some plexiglass to make it more durable. Also realized my front bumper is off center by almost an inch... Adds character.

checked forum and learned flawed assumption. Later 3rd gens a little different.

Yes indeed - the older ones (up to '99) used the white stalk, the later ones used the black. I think '99 is the only early version with the foglight function, but don't quote me on that.

Pulled the headliner for cleaning (didn't get to it, but it sat in the sun all day) and the sunroof to diagnose. Turns out the passenger side cable was rusted in place... so now I'm probably just going to silicone the bastard in place. Not a "feature" I like/use, just something I'm stuck with, taking up valuable headroom for no reason.

If it worked, I'd be less grumpy, but I'm ringing in about a 9 of 10 on my "Git off my Lawn ya damn kids!" grumpiness. Gonna irritate me everytime I get in there now too....

Do you have any before shots? My wheel is starting to deteriorate and I just figured it was dying, but that looks brand new so curious how severe of blemishes it can repair.

I do, see below! It really wasn't in terrible shape, just getting a little rough in areas where my hands rest. I was able to sand them down with 400 sandpaper, then clean and paint.

Obviously if you have more serious damage, it may be beyond paint. SEM is not good at hiding defects, just restoring the color.

Drove my Runner to and from RVA for back to back AVAIL shows.
Just under 1300 miles in 3 days and it cruises like a boss. I do long for a blower to help ascend the mountains...but nothing that couldn't be managed by switching off OD. I just love this truck.

I was in the same boat and didn't want to put it back together with a nonworking sunroof. After looking at online junkyards I found a complete working unit 30 minutes away for $240, glass and everything.

thought I was lucky scoring a bunch of free parts - including the headlight stem with fog switch, OEM fogs and the relay. With heat index of 105 - seemed like a good project day. Super excited to have that nice clear stock look.

connected up new switch to wiring connecter and all lights and turn signals worked AOK. Tried to re-mount new assembly into steering column - nope about 4MM wider!!

checked forum and learned flawed assumption. Later 3rd gens a little different.

Figured I could switch stems and use original switch box- since stem just held in by roll pin. Checked all wiring connections for similarity, seemed like it would work. Nope after taking both apart - see roll pins and stems just different enough to not work.

Got a beer. Then another.

Reassembled like I never wasted 2 hours - will be posting the switch soon for trade with right year! Note to self - ALWAYS check forum when attempting anything - always been done before.

I just did the exact same thing, except I got a 98 and I grabbed a fog stalk from a 99.

I did same thing..kind of...bought the fogs, switch and relay from a guy, and he did say that the switch might not be correct...so I was warned
luckily I found one in a 2001 in a wrecking yard so no big deal....other than time lost ( I bought a lot of stuff that day, so its hard to say what I paid for just the switch, I just paid "X" for a lot of stuff I put up on the counter. He looked at pile and just lumped it, receipt says misc 4runner parts.

seems like older 4runner parts pull a premium $, so if you can find out what the other cars are that have the same switch, and tell them its out of a ? it might cost less.

yesterday my room mate and I got the rest of the lift kit installed. ive lowered plenty of cars, but never lifted them. total chaos UCAs will be here tomorrow and i cant wait to see what difference they make. also got my wheels and tires mounted, balanced, and installed.

That's really weird. I am pretty sure that you need the stalk with the white connector for the earlier models, and the black one goes with the later models. Surprising that this worked in your '98.

It doesn't, I need the white stock version, but I did everything you did even trying to see if I could swap the stocks by removing the roll pin.

Ah, got it! Yeah, '99 is a split year - early ones had the white connector that would work with '96-98 models, the later ones had the black one that works with '00-02.

Added in some black handle covers, but forgot that I got covers made for keyless entry!!:caked: Ah oh well, I'll just say the little cutout is for "asthetics" :mullet:

Picked up 1999 2wd limited about 3 weeks ago with 194k miles on it.

Today did oil change.Drained and filled transmission, differential, power steering. Replaced air filter , cleaned intake manifold.

Next time gonna do coolant and replace front brakes/rotors

Saw its leaking from valve cover, looks like mostly from the back of it.Bolts was finger loose was only able to tighten the ones on the side of it.

Buddy helped do some more welding on the driver side firewall tub. Still have more grinding to do along with rubber coat and seal it. [emoji1419] “WHAT SIZE LIFT TO FIT 35s???? Asking for a friend.?!.?!.??? [emoji1787]”.
