I recently bought a 98 4Runner Limited here in Phoenix. The brakes were super soft, so I tried bleeding them and getting the air out. But while down on the ground doing the fronts I noticed that the front pads were shot. Yesterday I went and picked up some new pads for the front and installed them this morning (09/21) My love for Toyota grows every time I work on the brakes, gotta love not having to take the caliper off to replace the pads.

Went out for a little shake down run with the new 285/75/16 KO2s.
All went pretty well. Little rubbing in the front. Mostly on the plastic though. Curious what others have done outside of tubbing to eliminate rubbing under heavy flexing, specifically on the limited flares.

Finally got Pro Comps 1069s Classic wheels

Finally after a almost 3 week back order and one wrong shipment I got my wheels.

Pro Comp 1069s on 265x75x16R Goodyear Ultra Terrains. Some slight rub going in and out of some driveways, but will be cutting some of the front fender well out which will correct the slight rub.

Tires now stand out about 1/2 inch (maybe), past fenders compared to original wheels. Nice modest but aggressive stance.

Checking the rear ABS cavity for leaks is a very stress inducing experience. Like the opposite of a lottery.

Happy to report still dry after 21,000 km. I may give up checking at every tire rotation and do it less often.

Good ole rust belt.

Just rescued a 2000 4runner with major frame rot. Repaired all that but today i patched one body mount that rusted clear through the frame. Now im making a new gusset that resembles the factory gussets with the three speed holes in it. original is nonexisstent anymore. Cnc plasma baybie. Gona weld that in this afternoon and slap some primer on it at the least. Until i can cut open my por 15 can that seam sealed like someone put a bead of epoxy on the lid!! Some wild paint..

Began cleaning out and lightly re-greasing the manual hubs by starting on the right side- it's been sounding a hair crabby. Have not lost the tiny tiny ball. Found I need to get a new o-ring for the dial which is probably the biggest reason it needed cleaning up to begin with.

Didn't want a fold down table on the tire carrier, but always thought that area could be put to use. Had a canvas bag sewn up with grommetted holes. Set some nut-serts and put 'er in place. Perfect for gas can nozzle, other oily, smelly, grimy things I don't want inside.

Had a check engine light and P0420 code for a while now and after some research, it seems like the rear O2 sensor needs to be replaced with age. As far as I'm concerned this was the original sensor that lasted 18 years, pretty good run. Replaced with another Denso sensor (OEM). No check engine light for 300 miles so far and passed inspection.

Timing belt

Replaced the timing belt (and all the associated parts)... was a way bigger project than I thought it would be but truck starts and runs great - good thing I changed it as well - not sure when the last one was done but there was like 1/4" of rubber belt dust on the inside of the timing covers and the old belt was cracked and looked like it was about to fall apart - ugh

Brand new Toyota rim and new tire! Now I have 5 the same and will do 5 tire rotations. My old mismatched spare will dissapear.

Toyota still has rims in stock to match mine and for a decent price too.
