What Did You Do To Your 3rd Gen Today?

Fortunately the '00+ are a lot easier. No screws to remove, you just pry at the bottom of the mirror, and pull out.

As you can see below, there are two hooks on top, and two tabs at the bottom that snap in place. So to remove, pry out at the bottom, then swing it out to unhook the upper hooks. Then you can unscrew and remove the motor assembly, though you'll still need to disassemble the connector as stated above.

I finally got around to trying to swap out the innards of my two mirror assemblies but on both mirrors (both 2000), I tried prying the bottom of the mirror out and it would not come. I think I broke one of them.

The connection between the mirror and the mount on the one on my 4runner busted so I got another one from the junkyard but the housing is broken so I want to mix and match innards and housings to make one complete unit.

Any ideas what's wrong here?

Looks like the top clips comes up from underneath then the bottom clicks in straight ?

Not really sure - the picture I posted was taken after prying straight out on the bottom section, then unhooking the upper section. All '00-02 should be the same. Just make sure the 2000 you are using is not a 1999 model built in 2000, that's all I can think of.

I have replaced every bit of suspension on the truck and the steering recently loosened up, checked it and found the rack bushings were now shot, replaced those and it was still loose, yep it was the rack. Got an OEM rack and OTR's to fix that. Starter did one of those grinds against the flywheel when I was out in the middle of no where so I replaced while I had the rack out. Much easier than going thru the fender well. All shiny and new !

This weekend I replaced front rotors and pads, flushed brake fluid.

Replaced stock 16' wheels with a set of 1st gen 17' Sequoia split spoke

Got an OEM rack and OTR's to fix that. Starter did one of those grinds against the flywheel when I was out in the middle of no where so I replaced while I had the rack out. Much easier than going thru the fender well. All shiny and new !

BTW what is this thing that looks like a sending unit but no wire attached ? It's back from the oil filter(blue in pic) towards the trans

i used this ebay seller to fix my HVAC controls. i don't have enough posts to share it with the group in my own thread, but i wanted to share my findings.

successfully installed a head unit.. something I thought I would never be able to do. Electricity is a mystery to me.

next is replacing the cigarette lighter with a fixed dual usb/aux plug and adding another fixed usb port to the center console for back seat passengers

Exploded my manual hubs, cleaned and lightly greased, then stuck them back together complete with new gaskets:
(See the tiny tiny ball and the tiny tiny spring in the top row on either side of the dial? Be careful- the ball is especially sneaky and escapey!)

If I'm not mistaken that is a plug in the block for the oil dipstick tube.

I went with an OEM rack from Camelback Toyota, came out to ~$585 shipped but they knocked off a couple bucks to match some place back East that was $490 for an OEM but the shipping on the $490 rack was over $100 so Camelback was cheaper.

I am VERY jealous of your rack! My original rack is still working fine (with 319k miles on it), but I suspect the end is near because it has lasted so long.:guitar2:

Replaced rear o2 sensor, hopefully cures my CEL (p0420)
Swaps all interior and license plate lights with LEDs

Was looking into doing deckplate mod on the intake, was thinking would leaving the filter lid on top open achieve the same thing?
lol seems like the filter stays in place. Definitely hear a sound difference.

I am VERY jealous of your rack! My original rack is still working fine (with 319k miles on it), but I suspect the end is near because it has lasted so long.:guitar2:

The PO must have lived at the end of a very bumpy dirt road as this rig only has 163K miles and every suspension bushing, tie rod, ball joint, steering rack bushings, etc. was shot. And it was full of dirt because the rear air vent flap under the drivers rear quarter bumper was missing, I shoveled dirt out before I started vacuuming it.

Crudely wired the seat warmers in the driver side transplant because its about to get cold. Going to mount in the open spot below the rear window switch and the pass side will go on the other side.

Seat warmer components must be regulating voltage because im seeing under 2 volts but seems to be warming up just fine. If i disconnect the switch and retest the source(cig lighter) its back to 12ish.
