What Did You Do To Your 3rd Gen Today?

I had to do the same exact thing today, having stripped one of my lower ball joint flange nuts that I torqued too much.
...
Sucks doesn't it

The sad part is I didn't even get to torque it too much... just a really shitty bolt I guess. I had the torque wrench on 59 ft lbs and the rest were fine but now I'm replacing them all with OEM units.

Yes it does suck.

And also confirming that I can't see your pics. I think you're trying to link them straight from Google and they don't allow hot linking like that. Need to use Flickr or similar.

Pics of compressor mount?

Don't got one. Sorry. And it's hard to see with everything in place. It's a basic L bracket that reuses the rail bolt holes from the cruise control. So it has 2 bolts in the rail and only 1 that goes through the fender. So when it snapped it allowed the compressor to be a little floppy . It's been a while I may have also relocated abs module? With everything in place there is a finger width between cruise control and compressor. MAF is so close I just barely can get my fingers on the harness to unclip it when removing intake tube. Everything is tight fit which is why most people delete cruise control. It'll open up a lot of room. I tend to use my cruise control on 13 hr road trips though...

Finished up the front end refresh. It's tight like a tiger now. Who knew your truck wasn't supposed to just wallow around the road... weird! Updating my build thread with pics and notes.

Rear Bilstein 5100/OME 960 Sway bar bushing kit on 2nd Gen end links

I decided to go with Bilstein 5100's and OME 960 and will see how they feel for now. *Note, later on during the install, I found out that the because the previous owner installed Daystar spacers that the original coil spring seats were missing. Because of this, I had to decide to either back out of the install or try the install with the existing 2"-3" lift spacers and I went with the later after noticing there was enough slack on all the lines.

I work in the afternoon so I crawled under the truck early this morning and began to install the rear shocks and coils:
<a href="https://ibb.co/jL9q5xB"><img src="https://i.ibb.co/fCVZSKB/20201211-081546.jpg" alt="20201211-081546" border="0"></a>

Here's a pic of those spacers that I was intending to remove:
<a href="https://ibb.co/Q9TQmzT"><img src="https://i.ibb.co/Y21QjY1/20201211-081608.jpg" alt="20201211-081608" border="0"></a>

I removed the sway bar as I'll also be replacing those bushings while I'm in here:
<a href="https://ibb.co/Gd4Wp1F"><img src="https://i.ibb.co/MgxcSj9/20201211-082749.jpg" alt="20201211-082749" border="0"></a>

*I unbolted the brake lines to provide slack for when I remove the shocks and coils.

The passenger side shock came out just fine but the driver side was frozen in place and the shock didn't have an allen to keep it in place. There's no room for a channel lock to use while I wrenched it so I figured I'd bust out my sawzaw to make it easier. Yes, it's a bit barbaric but it gets the job done:
<a href="https://ibb.co/PzDx77L"><img src="https://i.ibb.co/KzK6MMP/20201211-095414.jpg" alt="20201211-095414" border="0"></a>

Installation was a breeze there was plenty of room to wrestle in the coils before installing the new shocks.

I used 2nd gen end links for the rear:

And, I got my shocks/coils installed before work starts. Woohoo!!

Nice find. Do you know if there's actual structural damage to the front end or if it's just the bumpers, hood, and the radiator/radiator support?

Looks like it could be an easy fix!

Put in Weathertech Universal AVM mats

After looking at the used market for vehicle specific Weathertech mats, I decided to buy the cheaper AVM mats. I got them from Costco Online (membership not required) and got 4 pieces and a cargo mat for $75 shipped. Pretty good deal IMO.

I only had to trim the cargo mat since it's wider than necessary, but it's short length wise. The other 4 mats didn't really need any trimming. It's not like a custom fit, but the mats sit pretty well and it's soft enough to contour on the floor.

Installed new Sonoran Steel shackle hangers (and D rings) for a much needed upgrade to the stock recovery points.

Man, these bad boys are beefy and I know the bolts will break before anything else does.

Thanks to forum member madone for selling me the hangers. :thumb:

Tattoo for Roscoe

A few days ago we had some really nice weather - sunny in the low 60's. I have been admiring many of the decals on the rear quarters of 4Runners for some time now. I found some I liked on ebay that were smaller and wouldn't have to be cut around the gas door. SO, now Roscoe has "tattoos".....(ignore those black squiggly lines ..... happened in photo editor.

Awesome grip and stability @ 18psi! I was going through slop, mud, packed snow, and rain and it felt like a totally different truck than what I had two months ago!

Tried to find stuff to flex on, but I'm not a pro at spotting obstacles yet, lol

Make sure you lock tight those D-rings. I have have a pile of those in my garage that have fallen off vehicles and I find them on the dirt roads out here. They just rattle loose overtime if left on the vehicle all the time.
