Yeah but you can't trust the lie-o-meter.
Although with the 255s, mine is damned near correct when I calculate my tanks manually.

I have the 255/75's as well.. And on a recent road trip burning through just about an entire tank start to finish, the gauge was off by being high exactly 1 mpg to the tenth. Checked with the math twice. same result. The gauge said 17.8 and I was actually getting 16.8= lots of traffic, not driving easy or trying to achieve any record mpg, used premium because why not its cheap right now.

Yeah, on longer runs mine is probably still slightly off, but on my mixed driving/commute weekly it's almost dead on. maybe off .1-.2 some weeks.
I stopped calculating though, especially as I add modifications. I knew I was going to be getting 14-16 mpg when I bought it and if it ever gets to the point where I need to care again, I'll sell my Tacoma and pick up a car for commuting. I'm still getting close to 300-330 miles per tank before the light comes on and I usually have 4 gals left at that point.

I use it all the time proven fact better for motor life wise screw it what's difference in fill up worse case 5 bucks I waste that in a day why not waste it on my yota[emoji869]

When gas was sky high, I ran regular... and I have read countless things about how your wasting time using premium fuel. And I do get the whole science behind it. the ecm can compensate for the lower octane fuel by pulling timing under load to prevent knock and it will run fine. But why force it to pull any timing if you don't need to, especially under heavier load conditions. I can absolutely feel a difference in my truck when I use premium over regular gas. Nothing dramatic, but its smoother. Maybe even faster throttle response. I would say overall MPG is about the same. I like to use it for longer trips or when I need the truck to work.

Yeah I've even read just doing one tank a month will clean it up from anything left behind by regular

I believe these motors, at least the v8 recommends 91 from the manufacturer .. they can run on 87 because of the ability of the computer to adjust but I think optimal running octane is 91 and anything after that doesnt matter..

We did a study for college comparing fuel grades in the vehicle mpg. And statistically premium on average yielded an extra 30-50 miles more out of a single tank of gas. For an extra 3 dollars I get better fuel and up to 50 miles more out of a tank I think its worth it. I run it in all my vehicles. Just another little bit of preventative service you can do to your vehicle.

What vehicles/engines did you study? I would imagine that there's a difference between a high-compression turbo and the V8.
Also, it seems over the last couple of years the spread between 85 and 91 octane went from 20c/gal to 50c/gal. What happened? Anyone know? Costco this morning was 1.85 for 85, and 2.35 for 91.

Finally got some time to cut out a fairing. The brackets were a little tricky but the Test fit was perfect and the test drive was quite. Time to paint [emoji106]
