Got my xmas lights up in preparation for tomorrow's snow

Went xmas shopping with the wife. Kids fell asleep so I decide to wait in the parking lot with them in the Runner. Left the ignition on so I could hear the radio while I went over my dash with a detailers brush and microsoft towel. WHAT??? You can't tell me most of you haven't done the same, LOL. Anyway Wifey came back about an hour later and I noticed the cluster lights a tad dim. Turned the key and not even a clicking sound. She was dead. Last battery installed was in 2011. Anyway, time for a new battery. Luckily there was a TiresPlus store a few hundred yards away where they jump started me.

Noticed the white graphics on my light switch are worn out. My OCD wouldn't stand for that. Apparently the $101.87 needed to replace it will.

This weekend I worked on putting my new Icon stage 2 with Total Chaos UCAs. Got the passenger side done. Got the rear complete after having to cut the old XREAS shock bolts off. But couldn't finish because I couldn't get the UCA ball joint to separate from the steering knuckle on the driver side. Tried hammers, ball separator, pickle forks, and more hammering. Probably spent about 2-3 hours just hammering to no avail! Hopefully tomorrow I'll have better luck cause I'm supposed to get new MK6 wheels and KO2 wheel/tires installed.

Yesterday, i put on a Toytec boss lift with HD rears, and Total Chaos upper control arms. Wrapped some 285/70/17 KO2s on the gunmetal TRD wheels.
Hoping the rear settles a bit, but I'll probably adjust the fronts up a bit. Extremely happy with how this came out and it rides great

The difference is night and day honestly, I could never go through another winter without winter tires. I don't even know how people do it to be honest!

People swear by winter tires, and I never have used them, so I am stoked to see how they will work and see if they're worth running for me. Glad they worked out! Stay safe out there :hello:

finally got around to doing the body mount chop. Well half of it at least. Still gotta weld some plates in and box it in. But now I can reverse and turn with no rubbing. Slight rub on the back of the wheel well fender at full turn.:lookout:

Replaced both front wheel bearings today. Drivers side was a whole spindle w/ hub assembly off a GX470 to rule out a bent spindle destroying my bearings. I didn't know my passenger side was bad until Friday so I bought a used one from the scrap yard to get me by. Something is still making a little noise though and I suspect the passenger side although it looked and felt fine before install.
Broke a caliper bolt on the old spindle, and they came in packs of 2 at the parts store so I just bought 4 new ones for less than $10. Replaced inner wheel seals after cleaning surfaces as good as possible to rule out that factor too.
I need a new passenger side cv as the boots are failing. Not bad, Cordone HD unit I bought off rockauto lasted 3 years. So I'll be replacing that soon. Also found my passenger side caliper is froze right up, and that's under warranty, thank you autozone! So I'll be swapping that out real soon. Need rotors and pads too as I have warped rotors... Summer towing in heavy traffic did a number on the rotors.

It's just the stock skidplate, I think it came on all the limited '07s.
I'm going to plastidip it gunmetal to match the wheels (This is going to scratch and look terrible pretty quick, but I want to see how it looks before I paint it, or install a new skidplate/bar. )

Not today but this weekend and got us a tree!

We went up Lolo Pass and hit some great, heavy, snow and was cruising along and then it all disappeared! Hasn't been cold enough around here for the snow level to drop. Last year we found our tree in the same spot and there was a LOT of snow down there.

Pretty and fun nonetheless.

Busy weekend "winterizing" the Runner as I had spare time. First I changed the oil to Mobil-1 and a Fram Ultra Synthetic filter

Cleaned the windshield and replaced the Icons with a new set

Also rewired the rocker switch for the LED bar with a an OEM style switch, had the original switch shoved in the fuse box cover

Soldered up the wires so they'll stay together

And all wired up, lights up when the bar is on and also with the dimmer and other switches, WAY brighter than the LED's I swapped in the stock switches

Mostly housekeeping, but I enjoyed checking a few things off the list. I also recovered the bluetooth mic from inside the dash and replaced it on the steering column where I can use it.

So a couple people on here (sorry, I forget who to tag them) mentioned that my spindle may be bent, and this could be causing my wheel bearings to be going bad prematurely, which was why I replaced it. Well I know it's hard to see in the pics but the drivers tire is cambered over quite a bit now with the new one in. No alignment tabs were touched, and I had an alignment not to long ago, also the tire looked like the other side before the swap. It is now also rubbing on the uca at full right turn and under compression. I'm going to loosen the balljoint and pull it over a little until I can replace the bushings in the uca's and get a new alignment.
Also, I think the passenger side wheel bearing I got from the salvage yard is bad. Trying to determine if it's the drivers side tire digging in cause the camber is so high, or noise from the passenger side caliper that is half frozen, dragging and getting replaced in a few days, or the wheel bearing. Need to jack the front up and see if there's any play.
