What did you do with your 4runner today?

Great news on all fronts. I'm mounting these along the bottom of the rear window so I wont see the in the mirror (blocked by rear headrests) and I hope they are bright enough to see through my tint at a distance.

40" would be perfect. I'm at 38.5 front. I'm adding a 1.5" spacer too. did you need a spring compressor to get the whole thing in there? I'm hoping I wont have to rent one

i gotta be honest. it was such a pain in the dick to install. I had the panhard bar off and upper links off and shocks obviously and it was such a pain. I had to basically fully compress the springs to put it in there and it was worse on the driver side because the puck. Make sure if you use a compressor to position the compressor right so you wont have to redo it because its stuck after its decompressed.

Did you have the sway off too? and flex the axle with a jack from the opposite side? I kid you not I easily had an inch above the springs with the spacers on top.

oh yeah i removed the sway and had one side jacked up and my brother standing on the wheel. It was a fight. Maybe since mine was so "new" underneath and i was the first one to really ever do anything on it could be the reason. They sit high at first but settle fast.

damn. im gonna leave the sway off this time anyway. Hopefully mine will be easier. Sorry you had such a hard time, jeez. I have a spring compressor rented for when I disassembled my fronts. Speaking of pains in the dick, even with an impact wrench the fronts were hard to compress.

which is funny because i've always had a breeze of a time with the front of mine. Its been the easiest part. Maybe because the front end of these resembled the Silverado style suspension i had so i have a lot of experience taking that one apart.

To keep in line with thread, ordered passenger side headlight to replace my yellowed one. I've polished and sealed it but its original and yellowed. The driver side had been replaced when that idiot backed in to me.

Since my rear sway bar mounts were broken I had no trouble slipping in my OME 895's with no compressors.

I'm convinced you and [MENTION=87687]LTDSC[/MENTION] are doing it wrong. I was thinking of going with icons, but the superflexes should suit my needs just fine.

You're doing it right. What did you do about the broken mounts? Mine are too. Thinking of ditching the whole sway

if it had fallen, i would have left it and washed my hands of it. I was never underneath it. I dont trust anything with my life.

Understood. However, why did you write that you were sketchy even being next to it?

Knowing that if the truck were to fall off the jack and the worst that would happen is that it would have landed on the tire helps keep the situation under control and the nerves calm.

With that said, every day we trust our lives to things that are out of our control. You trust that your safety equipment in your truck will work should you get t-boned. Every time you take off, you trust that the pilot of the airliner knows his stuff should there be an emergency. We even drive over bridges trusting that they will not collapse. The best we can do is to try to minimize the damage should something go wrong, hence my suggestion about the tire. eace:

To get back on topic, I picked up the fluids I need for my 120K service and a new master key from the stealership. I was very happy to tell him I only needed the key; cut to my VIN and I would program it myself.

Damn, I'd definitely have taken free Icons. What are you gonna do about the lean? can you get a taller spacer for the DS?

Lol I don't mind the lean. I might make one on my own if I feel it is necessary. Or if it's too much lift, I'll take off one DS spacer and level it out.

But as far as the FJ/DS install, I did it on my own. I couldn't step on the axle and install them myself at the same time lol. So I had to use a spring compressor. I ended up finally just buying a pair of compressors because I use them all the time and buying a set is actually cheaper than renting.

Was sketchy because i had to lift it tall enough with the bottle jack in the middle of a mountain where the population of mountain lions is at an all time high and we kept hearing something walk around us as we worked. 50 miles from any normal road out of signal range for our phones. Bottle jacks are not the business on soft clay either. But i couldnt go anywhere until took that pin out.

I've read somewhere on here, that the glue holding the foam in the vent ducting as well as the foam itself breaks down over time causing the mildew smell your referring to. I haven't seen, read, or heard of a fix. Most just mask the smell as best they can

That could be likely. I did notice my foam was detaching itself from the vents...

Thanks for the clarification. I thought by what you wrote you were nervous by what you were doing, not where you were. I still stand by my suggestion, especially with a precarious bottle jack. YMMV.

Wanted to see how my Toyos handled in the snow so went up to a FSR with a friend. It was a beautiful day and all fun until i got stuck in a ditch. 45min later of shovelling and creating a path for traction...it was a beautiful day again lol. Had to do a U-turn around that last picture cuz I wasn't able to go up anymore, got too icy. Also, had to go buy a more powerful compressor afterwards cuz my dinky one took took long to inflate my tires :bounce:

I ended up drilling the broken bolts out, re tapping and installing new bolts. The upper driver side bolt was a ***** to drill out and fix.
