Hey who was it that posted their 4th gen with a tire mounted on the front? I was browsing through my photos and happened to notice it had a Geo tag on it...and well, I know exactly where the picture was taken.
Crawled under my truck to grease the driveshafts. The zerks are frozen so I couldn't get any grease in. Anyone else experience this? How can I remedy this?

Thanks. They're Rubicon take-offs. BFG KMs in 255/75. I wanted to try and upgrade to 255/80s but I couldn't pass on this deal.
whatever you do don't take a torch and any significant heat source to it. I had a friend who did this in a rush and the joint ended up exploding due to expansion of the grease still inside the driveshaft, totally messed him up. hospital, metal plate in his head now, luckily he made a full recovery... I'd say just live with the annoying clunk until the temps rise... better safe than sorry.
Take one off and go to your local auto parts store?
Is there a reason why you went down to 255 instead of 265? Not much width difference but a heck of a lot taller. You have caught my attention. :hungry:
I went with 255's and it was the best decision of my life
Wow! Strong statement! What do you like so much about them? I'm planning to change tire sizes after I get my bumpers put on and can't decide which size to go with.

I will always just replace the Zerk fittings. It's not worth the hassle trying to push grease thru a frozen fitting IMO. You can go to a parts store and buy a kit that has several different angles, lengths, etc of fittings. Good luck!
yup either an 8 mm or 10 mm wrench and they are off. you can get 90 degree, 45 degree, stubby ones, and extended ones.Haha! Well I loved how much better (better is a relative term) my gas mileage was with the 255's compared to my mileage with the 285's. I could get a solid 15-17 with 255/80/17's!
Also I love the fact that they don't wander around on the road. My 285's would follow ruts and bumps in the road. The skinny tires stay on track
And the best part about running 255's? When you air them down, they pillow out like crazy to give you practically the same surface area as a 285 at normal pressure. The KM2's I had were incredible off road.
After running both size tires, I've decided my next set will be 255's as well. They're the best all-around tire I believe. Good on road. Great off road! And they look different than every other truck running 12.5's
Hmmm i always wondered about going to 255's with spacers ????? got me thinking now.
I did not know they were replaceable! Hell yeah! No more driveshaft clunk for me!
Thank you!
