Fixed my front tire rubbing issues...see here: http://www.toyota-4runner.org/4th-gen-t4rs/178472-solution-tires-rubbing-front-mud-flaps.html

Installed an ADDCO rear sway bar and MStudt extended rear links. Even when removing the factory sway bar, it was flexing as I pulled it out. Good thing if you are looking for a lot of articulation, bad thing if you are looking for on-road performance.

The difference in handling is AMAZING. I can't wait to replace the front. If you are a pavement pilot like me, this is a must have upgrade.

I adjusted the links to get the bar as level to the ground as possible, I could have used a little more length actually without coming into contact with the lower control arm, but I wanted at least an inch of thread inside the body of the link. Still, as she sits, it is a night and day difference.

50

Went from this:

To this!

Installed a Flowmaster 50 series as well, truck sounds great! Guy who put it on said "I didn't expect it to sound so good..."

Exhaust tip is a generic stainless steel tip from Summit. Very happy with the look.

Tires coming on Wednesday!

50 series is where it's at!!!

where'd you get your sway bar?

I backed it out of the garage to make room to change the oil in another car and it rubbed rolling off the sidewalk.

I'm thinking about swapping these 285's out for 265's... there's no way I can off-road with this setup. I don't know how you guys get away with 285's or larger.

What do I need to do? This current setup is not functional.

How do you like the FJ rims? I really want to get a set but I think they would look a little off without an ARB front bumper, something more off-roady I guess.

I like them, they're wheels. haha... wheels to me are cosmetic for the most part, unless you're buying beadlock wheels or trying to trim every lb of unsprung weight you can.... I switched to these because the oem ones were 8 years old and starting the pitting process....

Gotcha, totally understand. Mine are 10 going on 11 and there still hanging in there. I'll probably get those FJ rims probably after christmas.

Have you pulled the liners forward and pulled off your splash guards?

Liners are trimmed way down and tucked into the back of the CBI front bumper and the mud flaps are gone. I appear to be hitting the body mount and the plastic just in front of it.

Trim the body mount, what's your caster set at? I've trimmed a ton away. I run 285s and 1.5" spacers and don't rub anywhere.

Like Sam said i would trim the body mount. It might be a pain but you would be saving money having somebody do that instead of selling your tires and going with a new set. You would take a huge hit on the price of your tires no matter how new they are. Plus you wouldn't be happy going down in tire size.

Mine doesn't rub at all. Rubbing is fixed by 3 things: alignment, ride height & wheel offset. The combo needs to be just right.

Caster is currently at 3.4* (driver) and 2.7* (passenger). Passenger is definitely worse. The wheel offset is equal to Sport rims plus 1.25" spacers. It's hard to tell how much I'll have to remove to clear throughout the suspension's travel, but it seems that I'd be rubbing constantly while off-roading.

Maybe I'll make another alignment appointment and have them try max out caster?

The tires have about 25 miles on them and I might take a hit, but I'm not driving it until it functions properly... I also found that CV boot seeping grease so it'll sit until that's fixed as well.

I love the look of the 285's, but realistically the 1/2" of added ground clearance over a 265 is insignificant if I can't use the suspension travel without rubbing.

I guess that I'm just frustrated with my decision to go with 285's... I thought that with 3" of lift and aftermarket bumpers, I would be in the clear. And more so, I'm shocked that just a 1/2" larger radius tire has become so problematic. My 4Runner looks awesome, but I've lost a lot of functionality... I'm a function over form kinda guy at heart, I guess.
