What did you do with your 4runner today?

I had time to mount the rack this afternoon and thought I would share.









After a test drive I found that a fairing is going to be a must. One of the bars has a resonant frequency around 55MPH that will drive me crazy. I'm hoping the fairing will take care of that. Also, there are inserts for the unistrut bars that will fill in the open areas which would get rid of the wind noise.

Very nice, I like how it bolts right to the stock rails

I hope you do more of a write up on lessons learned, items you ordered, etc once you get the fairing figured out. Sadly I have the sport tube rack (not a fan), but I'd like to put together something very similar.

Thanks [MENTION=115474]eviele[/MENTION], I've always wanted a frontrunner rack but unwilling to spend the $1000 bucks. I liked the adjustable tie downs so started looking around for a solution and stumbled on unistrut and the possible adjust-ability. Once I work through a few issues I'll put together my build process.

Rolled the back window down and back up. Because apparently that is how you fix the auto down and rear defroster.

Removed the daystar 1.5" rear spacer, installed shock boots, sway bar link bushings, FJ rear springs, and firestone ride rite system. This is the ride height I was shooting for originally. Front is fj + 5100's set at 1.75" if anyone is curious.

I also started the wire wheel, degrease, rust converter process on the skid plates. Chassis saver paint will go on them tomorrow.

Bought my runner used for 1 yr. The windshield looked like somebody did a sand blasting job to it so it was all pitted, had 1 rock star on it and cracked the entire length of it last winter.

Decided it was time to change, nice to see out of a crystal clear glass again.

So I guess will have a MOD of a 4runner site, that doesn't have a runner.

Do like the FJ'S, almost went that way myself, just no room to sleep in the back was the final decision for me.

Haha there's a mod on TW that has a jeep... I think we'll be just fine.

I wish I got one to begin with. I have a roof top tent, so no need for sleeping room

Wash all the salt off the truck today. It will just get dirty again, but a least the salt is off until I drive it again.

Small thing. Decided to get a knife to have handy on the driver a-frame handle. Multi tool, rope cutter, window breaker., screwdriver, hex wrench... 20 bucks!
