What did you do with your 4runner today?

I've had the OW spec Radflo 2.0s and now Icon 2.5 extended travel, and I'll never run Radflo again. At the preset height, I got 3-3.5" from the Icons. I had to really crank down on the Radflos to get the same lift.

Widdled out some sliders yesterday. 1.75x.120 DOM. I will be welding them on but I am going to wait until I lift the T4R and get some real tires.

I don't really make this offer to people but I am willing to do it for you. Since it might be a little while before you get your lift and tires, i am willing to take care of those sliders for you. I just hate for them to sit in the corner of your garage taking up space so i just wanted to throw that out there......:biggrin2:

you wouldn't gain the same lift between the 2.0 and the 2.5 they're two different springs two different pre loads, two different ride heights.

I'm running the radflo 2.5's with 650lb springs and sit at 3" of lift no problem with my V8, bumper, and winch.

I'll second what aha said. Kinda comparing apples to oranges with 2.0 vs 2.5 ext travel. I have ext travel Radflo 2.5 with 700# springs. Cranked down 1/2" thread showing and am sitting at 3" + lift with bumper, full skids, sliders, Whitson rack and v8.

Don't get me wrong though, I don't think you can go wrong with icon or Radflo.

You guys are absolutely right, it was not my intention to directly compare the two. The op said icons don't provide lift, my comment was directed towards that. With both Radflo 2.0 and Icon 2.5, I was able to obtain the same lift amount, and it happens to be that the icon didn't require any adjustment.

I had issues with the Radflo and have read about numerous others having issues as well. Even at preset height, the icons ride much better (although subjective and still not an apples to apples comparison). The icons have been great, no complaints at all with them. With the black Friday/cyber Monday promotions, I'd go with icon personally. I just never was impressed with the Radflo, both the shocks and customer service.

Any idea what the icon 2.5 spring rate is? It came down the flip of a coin when I chose between the two with the special 4runner OW valving pushing me to the radflos. Radflos have treated me great so far but I'd be lying if I didn't say I still wonder how the Icons would have been.

They use a special 13" 650 lb coil. By special, I mean its not all that great.

Why not?

Too short and (imo) too heavy for stock loads (V6). The other manufacturers put a 14" 600 lb on by default. The old Donohoe's also had 14" 600 lb coils (not so sure on this one). I think they put on the short coil to allow you to go down to 0" lift, but the Icon's come preset at 3" lift...so a bit confused there. I find they ride a bit rough at this ride height, but I seem to be the only one. I've read the Tacoma guys describing Fox and King ride quality as "plush", whereas with Icon people describe it as "truck-like". Course I'd just go Icon since that big sale is coming up.

Not sure. Gonna just get some MB's (Discount Tire) or something basic. Just gonna get scratched anyways.

Did you request yours to have heavier coils or was it like that when you ordered? I think Icon expects you to add weight. But with more weight comes more preload, and then comes an even rougher ride. At which point you'll be swapping out to 14" 700# coils.

I am gonna stick to the 650's. Fox was really good about tweaking the valving for me based on what I wanted. I used to the same guy that did my valving for my LandRover Fox suspension.
