What did you do with your 4runner today?

I completely tore down my engine. What started out as a blown head gasket turned into a lot bigger project. I have only driven this about a quarter of a mile since I knew it had a blown head gasket when I bought it. This is my first 4runner and is a fun project. I hope it runs when I get it all back together.

It's nice when you find a good body shop like that. Took me awhile to find one and it wasn't the biggest or the "best" in town. Just a generational mom and pap deal that still does quality work and stands behind hit.

That A- pillar looks great! What was wrong with the spoiler?

The guy did a great job, because the pillar was in pretty rough shape with the rust and all. As for the spoiler, my SR5 didn't come with one, so I bought an aftermarket one off of Ebay and tossed its installation into the dent deal. Not quite brave enough to go drilling into the rear hatch myself, so it was worth paying for. :roll:

I put on S P A R K Y's tube steps tonight. I really like the way it looks. I have to say the 4Runner looks a lot better without running boards of any kind. If it weren't for the 2 microgirls I live with, I wouldn't put any on. However, this is the next best thing IMHO.

No need for sliders yet.

Dropped her off at the auto body shop to get some rust spots on the gate fixed up. Warranty covered it for me!!

Had the family drive it home after I got hit by a 1" thick bar of metal that launched out of a machine at work. Only cracked 1 rib and bruised the next one up! I'll have a nice few paid days off... Started getting Pneumonia a few days ago and I'm at the coughing-24/7 stage... :help:

Drained and filled the front diff, transfer case, and rear diff fluids. It was actually pretty straight forward and I had never done a diff fluid change in my life before. :jump:

How did you get the warranty to cover it? I have a few signs of lift gate rust and toyota basically told me that there's nothing they can do about it.

Re rust:

I suggest you pursue your rust claim farther up the Toyota chain of command.
Unless your truck is so old it's no longer covered by any rust warranty at all,
I would not go quietly, nor meekly, into the night.

Yesterday I ran the truck through an automated..

car wash to blast away the accumulated mud acquired from a couple days
of low impact 4-wheeling, and I also bought a new, 22" windshield wiper blade for the driver's side. Blade was $18 installed, including MD 6% sales tax.
Today it rained cats and dogs, because I had the truck washed yesterday (!), so I just stayed in and mellowed out.

Nearly 89,000 miles on the truck and it burns less than 1/4-quart of oil in 5,000 miles. I'm constantly amazed at the high quality of this truck, and also its low maintenance, trouble-free nature. I'm hugely impressed.

Today was a Great day with my 4Runner!!!! After a few weeks of my gauges being across the country I finally got them back today. To my amazement it was better than I thought it was going to be, although I never had any doubt that [MENTION=63211]emelianenkov[/MENTION] would do such a great job. He answered all my stupid questions and was quick to get back to me. Oh yeah, he packaged it the same way I sent it to him, that made me very happy

They had to be purple, he had never done purple before, well guess what, theres a first time for everything and as the pics show its "purple".

These were by far the hardest challenge I have had, aside from the ongoing ford taurus gauge/interior lighting project I've been doing for half a year with a dude in Chicago who is making his 05 Taurus into a show car. I had to learn how ford electronics work. Lots of trial and error, and it's not like I could walk outside and test fit the pieces in my truck... That's not a challenge, it's just a pain in the ass.
