What did you do with your 4runner today?

The problem is most not all alignment guys have no skill and take no pride in their workmanship
Half wont even try

This is why i took the drive to a tw member in nj "dave t" who will take the time and give you a great price
And you know its done right

I have to take mine to the dealer to get a good alignment. Everyone else within an hour either says no or just half-asses it

My headlights were'nt too bad considering their age, but there was some yellowing and a few cloudy areas. Then, last weekend, I sprayed down the entire front of the truck with Simple Green before washing because it got really caked in bug guts after a trip up to Island Pond. I didn't anticipate the baking sun being and issue and even after I finished washing the truck you could see ghosts of where the drips had dried on the headlight lenses.

I had purchased this 3M kit a while back to use on my awful old Accord's headlights but never used it (sold the Accord for the 4Runner) So I whipped it out today and spend about 45 minutes on the headlights (including masking time).

As I said, my lights weren't too bad so I skipped right to the last 3 steps (2 high grits and a polishing compound). Pretty neat how much yellow crap it takes off. It made an appreciable difference for the 45 minutes of work it took. I might go back and do another round of polishing compound as I think it could be just a touch clearer. But now there is NO yellowing and no more ghosts or scratches. Very clean and clear. Amazon.com: 3M 39008 Headlight Lens Restoration System: Automotive

No pictures because I don't think it was bad enough to really show off.

Also, yesterday i got to do the thing I've really missed since we've been truck free. I dropped the rear seats. Lined the back with a tarp, and did a ton of yard work. Pruning, weeding and cleanup, making multiple trips to the spot in the nearby cemetery where the town has us dump our yard waste.

Sounds simple but ever since I sold the Land Cruiser (leaving just the Prius and Accord), we've had to haul this stuff, by hand, in wheeled bins to get it over to the dump spot. It was a huge pain that required us to cut thorough a neighbors yard (the neighbor backs up on the cemetery, we are across street from there.). It made every job in the yard twice as hard, and take twice as long with trip after trip.

It was a slow leak coming from the lower, driver's side of the radiator. On the engine side(inner side) of radiator.

that is EXACTLY where mine was leaking from

Mine was all set very close to 0's after the UCA Install. Where did you put the adjustment but when you installed them?

I had my UCA's set on +2.0, like [MENTION=87687]LTDSC[/MENTION] has them set on when he sold em to me

What did you use for the mount for the Rigid's in the front/lower grill? I'm wanting to get a set of these and just want to make sure I have everything lined up. I am very curious as to the difference between the spots and floods.

I used a carriage bolt and a nut and drilled a hole straight through the steel part of the upper bumper. You need a right angle drill to get in there to drill the hole.

The rigids in the lower grill are actually D2 driving pattern and have a bit more outward projection then floods. but work well as a flood/fog beam.

The spots are the regular duallys. and are insanely strong. the combination basically fills in all the gaps and turns all darkness into bright LED light. The world will glow in front of you with that combination.

Heres a pic with my truck on the left and my buddies lifted 07 tahoe and all his rigid lights on the right. PIC doesnt do justice at all but you get the idea.

I installed my new bumper today. In the rain-sleet-snow crap we had here in Wisconsin. It took some time but I finally got it on. I would not recommend installing it by yourself. It weighs a ton!

That is one nice looking 4runner!!! Really like how you have led for highbeam. TRS like it so much they put a picture of your headlight on their facebook page . You should paint the bracket where you mount your LEDs to black, that way, they don't stand out as much.

Just got ~15.7 MPG on my last tank. Not great, but I haven't seen a number like that in a long time. Didn't change anything; same mixed commute to work, same lead foot, but I improved my mileage by over 1 mpg.

Not bad for over 185K miles. Oh and I paid $3.15 a gallon where I live :thumb:

Went to High Tech for an alignment (I replaced my steering rack with a reman'd unit from CVJ in Colorado 2 weeks ago). Also had them evacuate and recharge my AC. No leaks but I've never had it done so the old refrigerant needed a boost!



Truck tracks perfectly now....wasn't bad before but toe was slightly off. And it's like a fricking icebox.

agreed, I've lost a lot of friends on bikes, not their fault but other drivers' faults, it's why I'll never own one. I need a steel freame around me

i love my truck as well but.....

on another note
so just had my timing belt replaced
guy just called and said total was $845 extra $45 for toyota pink fluid + flush
he also said timing belt looked like shit and water pump was leaking......
for those of you waiting don't....its a very costly mistake.....
he said my truck only has 90k, but 11 years and rubber degrades ......he said its hit or miss.....
but is it worth the risk
im glad i had it done

now to finally lift it...

That wasn't too bad. It's much easier and less frustrating if you take 15 minutes and remove the bumper cover. Turned out nice.
