What did you do with your 4runner today?

Local dealer wanted 250 each, Ebay had them for 200 each shipped.

I think it might be a new iteration of the bumper. I called demello when I was installing it and Jason said that it just bolted to the standard bumper mounting bolts. With 4 studs on each side holding it on it feels like this thing isn't going anywhere!

Edit: maybe it's not there on the 06+ bumpers?

yeah like i said i dont think the brace is necessary and one side of mine is sketchy at best, but still surprised they don't include it.

I'm pretty sure it's somewhat important, not sure why Demello left it out. Those frame horns are just flat steel welded to the end of the frame. That bolt is the only bolt that actually passes into the tubular section of the frame.

I can't find any links other than comments that it should be used, but I remember seeing where those frame horns were bending or breaking on tacos and FJs that only used the OEM bumper mount.

Wow that's actually not as bad as when I had searched after they were released. Can you link to the ebay seller? Did that include shipping?

problem solved. Called the UPS driver and he said he had been trying to figure out what those brackets came from all day. He dropped em off at the house this afternoon. Weirdest part is I had the hardware and some extra. Maybe a pallet building goof or something lol.

I can tell you that CBI has determined that those braces are significant overkill and they have stopped using them... at least for the 4Runners. I'm not sure about other vehicles. When I was installing my bumper, I talked to Nathan (CBI) about this very issue. I'm a firm believer in overkill, but I trust their judgement.

i have the hidden hitch and it uses the two extra mounts. i think that if they add it on a hitch it should be on a bumper

Hitch is a little different than a bumper. The bumper is safe and secure and the hitch is meant to displace weight.

well if it was me and i had a winch on the front of the truck i would rather have those 2 extra mounts used. im not saying its needed but i am also one for having things over built
