What did you do with your 4runner today?

What did you end up getting? I have never honesty "loved" a vehicle until this one. I feel like its one of the last true sport utility vehicles with a great deal of emphasis on sport and utility. Enjoy it.

Its a silver 04 SR5 2WD, it has 169k on it. Paid 7635$ for it, which I think is a good deal. It has a few character scars on it, just minor dings and a few scratches on the dash. I actually had to look for them to actually find them, but it doesn't bother me at all.

This isn't my first time with a 4Runner, I've been driving my moms 06 Sport Edition for a while (which is stock which drives me crazy). Coming from a 2000 Land Cruiser to a 4Runner, I actually prefer the 4Runner. Nothing against the land Cruisers, but I never actually used it to its fullest potential. I loved it for its sheer size and the capacity of crap I could put in it, but it was just to expensive gas wise for a college student on a limited budget. I'm going to get more enjoyment out of my 4Runner.

I went to see Steve gshadow325 at ks Autotek in Philly for some upgrades.
a Kenwood dnn991hd
3 new camera, front rear and right side.
remote start including smart phone access.
A mic for phone.
After driving all night for 7.5 hours i got to his shop we discussed what
was to get done, he dropped me off at my hotel(very nice of him to
do that) Steve and Steve worked all day installing my nav remote and cameras.
They had a ton work to get done in a day and a half, especially when they had to
fix an abortion that the previous inbreeds created years prior in Erie!!!!! They
used abs plastic for a face plate and used more snow caps than the rocky mountains
have. Anyway the Kenwood 991hd is awesome, the cameras are very clear and love the
remote start from the remotes and the phone. Steve added a special touch, he programmed my remote
start units to do all function of OEM and more. He added the "roll up" feature to the rear window
along with of course the roll down. Now i have 1 remote that does it all!!!!!!!!!
When I put on my right turn signal, the camera mounted under the passenger mirror overrides
the rear camera that comes on for 1/4 second and shows the blind spot when changing
lanes. I received an hour tutorial and did some account creating and was on my way, when
my brakes locked up!!! No not calipers(i wish) ABS master cylinder module. Steve and Steve
spent several hours of there Saturday trying to help me get going. We concluded thorough various
test rides and diagnostic that i was (my decision) going to drive home with manual brakes, yes manual
brakes no power assist. "back to the 60" i was!!!! It was a long but uneventful journey home but
WELL worth the trip. Master cylinder nightmare starts tomorrow!!!!!!!!

Got the exhaust on. The 18707 kit

A couple things:

1, The muffler was a PITA to pipe up. The inlet side was way too tight. I pulled the straight pipe back out and had to use a piece of wood & hammer to get the two to engage even an inch.

2, The outlet side of the muffler must have been bumped, it was tweaked in slightly. I used my exhaust expander to correct the opening.

All in all it went ok. The kit fits up fine. Sound is good, louder than the video lets on.

I'm happy with it. Now I just need to get it bent out to the side.

yes, took off intake tube then took a screwdriver with a towel sprayed with throttle body cleaner and slightly open it and wipe around the area, both sides and the housing. It was pretty black. I didnt notice any difference however.

Drywall transport

I'm in the middle of a major kitchen renovation. I needed a decent amount of wood framing and drywall this weekend during construction. I was determined to transport it all in my runner with 2 requirements: 1. I didn't want to cut the drywall and 2. I didnt want it on the roof. I have a hitch tailgate extender that I used to use to help load a kayak onto my roof. When I sold the kayak I kept the hitch extender but cut it to a height so that it was slightly higher than the bottom of the rear window so I could transport long heavier stuff hanging out the back window without resting on the windowsill itself. I folded my seats down, used that tailgate extender and loaded all of my 2x4s first, then drywall on top. Tailgate extender has U hooks on it that I used to ratchet strap everything down. I had to leave the tailgate open, but it wasnt a long trip. It was extremely secure and nowhere near the weight rating of the tailgate extender. All in all, a pretty simple way to transport drywall, plywood etc, in a safe manner without cutting it down or strapping it to the roof, or causing any damage to the truck. Thought I'd share...
