What did you do with your 4runner today?

Not long after I purchased my '07 back in 2012, the dealer modified/cut my accelerator pedal (Toyota 90L Special Service Campaign) without my permission. My shoe sometimes gets caught on the edge of the pedal when transitioning to the brake. Found one that wasn't cut and it only took a few minutes to install. The cut pedal removed 1 1/4 inches of material.

What a hack job. And regulators wonder why people don't bother bringing in their cars for recalls. The solution is worse than the problem.

Agreed, I've been seeing horror stories like this for a few years now, and have been avoiding the stealership at all costs. I wear a size 13 shoe, there's no way in hell I'd let them cut my pedal

Same shoe size here, however most of the time I don't use shoes. Never had a problem with it. I'm curious what the standard one feels like.

I really have no need to go to the dealer. So unless they have an airbag recall, I don't anticipate having to face this issue.

I just got back from a short trip to Home Depot. I don't think my foot even hits that portion of the pedal (size 10.5 shoe). So I'm not sure how much it would affect me. But aesthetically it looks horrible, and the whole premise behind cutting the pedal annoys me.

Agreed, and people have been saying that they weren't even notified. This was all due to a stupid floor mat issue that wasn't even a real issue. I have Weather Tech floor mats, and have no issues with them moving, but I can't risk that someone would hack up my pedal just because some dealer checklist told them to.

i have the obx sport pedals installed too, i never notice it being caught on the floor mats at all. i do have have the factory all weather mats on top of the factory carpet removable mats, they both are secure on the floor mat clips. my dealer installed them for me back in 2007 when i bought the truck.

The pedal is very easy to change. P/N 78120-35460. I found mine on ebay. Its the same part number for several other Toyota vehicles as well.

The pedal assembly is held in with two 10mm nuts. One at the top and one at the bottom right of the pedal. The one up top is hard to see. You just disconnect the plug from the top of the pedal, unbolt it and bolt on the new one. I recommend removing the plug after you unbolt the pedal assembly. Same thing going back on. Plug it in before bolting back onto the floor. When you get down there far enough to see up under the pedal it will be clear what needs to be done.

I'm surprised they did that. The TSB that came out a couple of years ago referring to the gas pedals and the recall that replaced the pedal, clearly stated that mats should not be double stacked.

It's one or the other, not both.

Well since my weather mats have a hole by the heel, I'll just leave it like that since I don't want stinky dirty carpet. My gas pedal do not even get caught at the edge.

Changed my CV axel. It's amazing how easier things get the second time. First side took me about 4.5 hours second side took me just over and hour and a half.

I remember reading some discrepancies about which way the c-clip should face when inserting the new axel. Make sure the opening is facing upward or you'll have a hell of a time ha.

I did a B.L. a couple days ago too. It's SUPER simple if you're thinking about doing one.

LOL, I wore through 2 sets of OEM weather mats before buying my Weather Techs and never looking back. They are garbage

That's weird that you say that because before buying the OEM rubber mats myself, I searched this forum and everyone seemed to say that the OEM ones were better than the weathertechs.

I wore out two OEM all weather mats as well before going to Weather Techs. The OEM mats are crap and each had a hole in it within a year. I have had my Weather Techs in for about 3 years now and they don't even look worn
