Finally hand washed it from our Roadtrip, and after replacing the battery last week, painting my wheels, and doing the oil change, she is now ready to sit in the garage under a cover until I take her out next. . .which actually will be this weekend on an impromtu trip up north for camping this weekend!!!:whoo:

Thanks! I've been looking into them for a while now and this one hits everything I wanted and at a reasonable price point (I think you can get it off crutchfield for $500 Shipped right now). I also got a wiring harness that allows me to keep the steering wheel controls so that's a plus. Carplay basically gives you an interface with your iPhone without needing to touch your phone. It uses Siri so a lot of it is completely hands free and it syncs your Phone, Contacts, Messages, Apple Maps (works as your navigation) iTunes, and it even has Spotify which is what I mainly use for music streaming so it worked out perfectly. Plus if I don't feel like plugging in my phone it still has bluetooth so I can stream my music wireless as well. The sound quality is really impressive considering I'm still using the factory speakers.

Thanks, to run Carplay yeah it has to be plugged in. But if it's just music it will still stream through bluetooth and even bring up the track/song info.

That's pretty cool, is it a pioneer specific adapter or can you use the apple usb to lightning cord? I have a lifeproof case and the apple cord is about he only thing that fits with the case on and it gets old taking it off so often.

You use the Apple lightning cord. I have CarPlay and haven't really been too impressed, maybe used it twice since I've had it installed.

I guess I just prefer Bluetooth, but the headunits are nice.. so its a nice bonus

Nope, just the standard lighting cable.

Finally settled on an in-dash and went with the Pioneer AppRadio 4. Install was a breeze and I'm obsessed with Apple Carplay, don't know how I lived without it so long.

That looks great. I have a couple questions for you if you don't mind. How easy was it to install and what wiring harness did you use? Is the display removable? If not, how easy would it be for someone to break in and remove it? Thanks!

Sure, The install was pretty easy but I have been doing car stereos since I was like 15 so it wasn't anything new. I get pretty OCD with electronics so I try to do everything with proper heat shrinking and soldering but it can be done with just wire ties and electrical tape. I used this wiring harness, it plugs into your factory harness and then you're just matching the wires from the alpine harness to it. I did have a parking brake bypass sensor on the alpine harness that you can get from amazon for like $15 so you can play video while driving. I haven't used it but it's nice to have if you have a secondary monitor for passengers in the back.

The display isn't removable but the dash kit covers any openings that would allow someone to remove it without having to tear the whole dash apart. I have pretty dark tint too so it's hard to see without putting your face to the window. Honestly if someone was trying to quickly steal it without knowing how the dash disassembles they would do a lot of damage to it and probably render it useless before they were able to get it out. I garage my truck anyways so I'm not too worried about it. (knock on wood)

Thanks! you and me both, the AVIC-7100 & 8100 are beautiful but I just couldn't justify the price tag. This one was a big enough upgrade for me considering I was rocking the non-JBL stereo. I'm really happy with it so far. Especially with carplay being the same thing across all the models. I will say the only downfall I see from it is that you're using cell data to run apple maps/spotify if you're using them but I've been using them since before I installed this.
