What did you do with your 4runner today?

you are not kidding, i'm on the same boat too, kinda upset my tires only have like 6 months/5k miles on them... and i bought the 265s new :tsk:

That's why I went with the 255/75/17, I knew I could at least run them with some rubbing until I lifted and I knew I wasn't going to be happy with the 265s after I lifted. I'll go to 285s once these wear out.

see, the thing is that i thought i would be "happy" with the daystar leveling kit and the 265/70/17 cooper at3s. long story short, i only kept the daystar for 6 months and i just upgraded to an OME lift. now my tires look like a joke... lol

I'm so glad I changed my mind at the last second, because that's exactly what I was going to do and ended up with the 885s and 5100s all around instead. Figured I'd get it as close to what I wanted instead of upgrading later.

Ordered my set of General Altimax Arctic Tires today from Discount Tire Direct. 265/70/17. Figured I'd upgrade to 33's once summer comes around. Got them for 404.00 shipped to my house. Heck of a deal. Mount them Thursday and I'll get some pics

Replaced complete upper and lower control arms and outer tie rods on Sunday and got her aligned on Monday. Very nice :lookout: At 150k there seemed like a number of ball joints were bad and I know the bushings had seen better days. I ended up not replacing the inner tie rods since they felt solid.

Since the 4Runner has always been in Texas I had an easy time getting the lower bolts out. I did PB Blast everything the night before so that helped I'm sure.

Which lower arms did you use? I have a ball joint leaking grease on the driver side and the bushings look like shit on both sides so I'm debating on whether I want to do arms or just ball joints and bushings. I'm due up for my 1k settled suspension alignment and I want to do these before I get the alignment.

The Moogs were on back order so I cheap'ed out and bought the beck/arnley. I called rock auto and asked if they had data on warranty returns and they said the becks have a very low return rate...about the same as the Moog arms.

I think pressing ball joints in wouldn't be too bad but, for me, it was an easy job to swap out the complete arms. More than likely you'd take the arms off anyway. I assumed the bushings were shot anyway and my understanding is the LCA bushings can be a huge PITA.

Thanks, I'll have to start pricing things out. I'll likely go with full arms just for ease of the swap and time spent doing it. It's amazing that the ball joints and bushings look so bad. My Tacoma has 101k on it and the lower arm bushings look brand new still. Granted it's been a So Cal truck it's entire life, and the 4runner looks like it lived in Idaho and New Mexico for awhile before it ended up in California so weather fluctuations may be accounting for the wear and tear.

edit: 4runner only has 97k on it right now so I shouldn't be replacing these things yet. Meh. CVs are probably next since I keep beating the hell out of it off road.

I used these. *http://pages.ebay.com/motors/link/?nav=item.view&id=271910041778&alt=web*
5 year warranty, seems to be good quality, and you can't buy individual components for that price! Putting the tie rods on this weekend.
I had to cut my lca bushings out. So yourself a favor and buy new cam bolts too. Worth it!

Wow, that's a hell of a price for all those components. Thanks for the link. I should be good for the cam bolts (famous last words) since there's no rust on the front and I just had everything loosened up when I installed my front lift. Alignment tech didn't have any problem setting specs either so doesn't appear to be any seizing.

That's what they told me too, but the bushings froze to the bolt. It's only $28 for the cam bolts, good piece of mind!
I don't have a sway bar anymore so the links for that are sitting on a shelf collecting dust. Lol

Was just thinking the same thing for the sway bar links. I have a set of Mstudt's front links too that I ended up not even using too. Should post those up in the for sale section one of these days.

How long have you been using those arms? everything good so far? with alignment, noises any issues
It's been a month and a half, 5 trail rides one of which resulted in that broken cv axle. No issues, everything looks good and tight still. [emoji106]

Thanx brotha,
I was just about to order replacement parts tonight... bushing and ball joints to rebuild mine.
But now I'm just gonna go this route and dont have to stress rebuilding mine for now. Slowly do it down the road to have some fresh ones on the shelf for when I need them.
Good lookin out on the info

My pleasure! Do what I can to help make it easier on others! I had to cut mine up. So no rebuilding the bushings. Lol
