Did a little DIY stock roof rack painting today, and here's why: As most of you know, the OEM plastic covers on the rack are incredibly pitiful. (If you own an aftermarket rack, this post isn't for you:/ )

So to all my fellow stock rackers out there stay tuned!

I recommend this job to ANYONE, it will truly help your OCD mind come at ease if you are like me. So, let's begin.

Started by masking off EVERYTHING - I am using Truck Bed Liner BTW - I have always been a fan of this product as it is extremely durable and gives off a nice textured finish. Adds to the aggression. This stuff gets messy!

Focusing on just the covers, you need to rough these things up pretty well. So I used 60 grit and started doing the damage. This felt good actually because I really hated the way these looked before I started, you'll see what I mean

And here we go. 1..2..3.. probably 6 coats of liner. Now note this stuff sprays in a splatter format, you will not cover everything in a few coats. Plus, more is better am I right?

To finally my finished product, couldn't be happier with how they came out. I have never made a mistake with this stuff. Compare.

That's about it folks, just try to find little projects here and there to improve my runner. Again, I'm very OCD so little things like this go a long way for me

The moral of this story is to not go Offroading at 1am and not let you'r buddy's talk you into going in snow you know is way too deep.

After trying to dig out for an 1 1/2 hours I decided to call AAA. When the tow truck driver showed up at 2:15 he didn't want to drive over the 3 ft snow pile to did to get back there. It's was about a mile from the main road and the trail was blowed, except for that area. So my buddy finally flagged someone down at the road at 3am and he was hesitant to drive over the snow pile and we finally talked him into it. Luckily I had my toe straps and it still took 8 tugs to get me out. It was also dumping snow the whole time and we didn't have much winter gear with us.

Should have kept digging, would have at least kept you warm. haha. I need to get the winch kit for my hi lift for situations like this since it's going to be awhile until I can afford bumpers and winches.

I added some cheap led strips from Amazon to the inside pillar of the lift gate. I wired it to the dome light so they act as one.

I have a led bulb that has a board connected to it. I soldered it to that and it works the same as where you put the switch. i used these 10 for $8

The wife's T4R started having misfires on Friday so on Saturday I taught her how to change spark plugs.
After that I started looking at parts for my 3rd gen that need to be replaced due to wear and tear.

Installed the Pioneer X2700BS head unit in my '03 yesterday. This was my first time to DIY a head unit install; intimidating initially, but it's really not that difficult. Happy with it so far. Nice clean look. Goodbye tape deck! :banana: (Not pictured: the orange illumination setting pairs nicely with the stock lights.)

Winner! The misfire moved with the #6 coil that they moved so there's a new one going in and hopefully that will be the end of it.

Removed the throttle body and cleaned it. It wasn't as dirty as I thought it might be. The bottom coolant hose was a SOB to remove and I accidentally lost about 1/2 of the overflow reservoir while the TB was disconnected - oh well.

I also installed [MENTION=12905]XenonDepot[/MENTION] 5000k HIDs. Simply astounding light output. By far one of my favorite mods. The stock projectors do a fantastic distributing the light. inb4 the haters.

Snow is the devil. But it's also fun... I learned it's mostly fun with 4-8 Maxtrax, shovels, and at least one winch in your party.

May be worth keeping another coil or two with you if you're going on long trips. If one went out, the others may not be far behind. Not saying they always fail in groups, but I do know lots of mechanics that play it safe and replace all at once if one dies.
