What did you do with your 4runner today?

Got my alignment done today. He said he got everything in spec but didn't make a print out. He had another rig on there by the time I got there to pick it up.

Said the back two cam bolts wouldn't turn at all but he managed to get the caster just barely in spec without them. It drives good though.

Looks like I may need to get the diff drop kit. I think I've got some axle binding going on when I get on it...

Sent back the crappy air on board switch and got one from CH4x4 to finish off my traction control mod. They didn't have an ABS or traction switch so it's now the "pirate lights" mod lol. A little off on the color but works perfectly.

Relocated DAC button! I have my interior apart and was wondering about this. Was it a pain to do?

There's a couple ways, apparently there's enough snack in the DAC wiring if you trim all the tape and sheathing off. In my case I was moving the inverter switch down to the center console too so I just cut the plugs off and built a 9 wire extension harness, reattaching the connectors to the ends again. Pretty easy, just lots of soldering, heat shrinking, zip ties...

Replaced the ac condenser in the 07. And the gx is getting a timing belt today. If I have time (which I doubt at this point) I am finally flushing the tranny. Might have to be next weekend.

I'm hungry too.

Timing belt

I filed my fing taxes! Now I can use $$$'s to get Timing belt and H20 pump replaced at 113,500 miles. Only 23,500 beyond factory recommendation. Oops......

Get it on yet?

I'm scared. hahaha. Put the template on, measured it out about right, stared at it for awhile, adjusted it, stared it awhile again, and then took it off. It's going to end up higher than the actual intake hole on the inside of the fender, which I'm assuming is where the rubber boot comes into play, otherwise you have to cut through the fender flare which I don't.

I have to run over to home depot and get the right size drill bit. I thought I had one big enough but it's not even close. I also want to get some weather stripping to put between the snorkel and the paint which should help seal it up and keep it pulled firm without too much vibration.

I did a full brake job this weekend with OEM components excluding lines - front rotors, pads all around, anti-squeel plates, new retainer springs, new brake bleeder caps, new SS brake lines, bled brakes, etc. The jerk who changed the pads last time threw away all of my shims, wear indicators, and anti rattle springs so the OEM pads were squeeky after only 40,000 miles.

I also installed sway bar Prothane greasable bushings & brackets - the fronts had to be slid all of the way forward to avoid frame weld seam so they wouldn't bend when tightened.

To all who are looking to do SS brake lines or extended brake lines, don't buy ToyTec SS rear extended brake lines UNLESS you are happy with lines that do not fit into factory brackets or thread as well/deep either - the Centric brake line kit on Amazon do fit the OEM bracket perfectly though for the fronts (these have the lip that fits OEM bracket) - and the threads seat exactly the same depth as the OEM.

Great Fit for Front - Centric 950.44007 Brake Line Kit $38.94

Do not fit brackets - slip through oem brackets - ToyTec FJRL14 Extended Rear Brake Lines (07+FJ & '03+ Runner)
Total: $79.17

You can see the OEM fitting has a lip that fits snugly in the OEM bracket - the ToyTec's do not have this lip - they are essentially just a 17mm nut that actually slides through the bracket - see the gap? I zip tied them to the bracket to keep them from rattling / sliding through the bracket holes.

Well after a year of having my cubby hole all cluttered up with my roof rack lighting wiring, finally organize the wires and attached everything to the sides out of the way. Now I can get to my other items without fishing through the spaghetti mess. All this cause I needed to reseal one of my pod lights, had moister in one.

I stared at my 4R thru the window as I try to concentrate on finishing my comprehensive exam project for my masters.... Does that count? LOL

I'll get more pics up when I do the writeup. That was a total pain in the ass, and since I was trying to avoid trimming/cutting my fender flare, I ended up putting the hole about 1/2" too high. This meant cutting sheet metal to have enough clearance on the inside of the engine bay for the rubber boot from snorkel to intake. My template was also waaaaaaaaay off and while I got it pretty damned close, I did have to redrill two holes. Fortunately the snorkel covers my screw ups.

Interesting. This was my first time installing brake lines like this. I actually had to hammer my clips into place. But this may have been because I have significantly more rust than you.

Here's some pictures. They're not great, as I am currently working and had to zoom in on some existing pictures I had. Do you see any issues?

I replaced the calipers, rotors, and pads all 4 corners, and detailed the inner fenders with some satin black paint. Brakes like a champ again. Three frozen calipers on the thing.

Holy rusted metal batman. I tapped the clips with a wrench also to get them to seat.

Looks fine, wonder if the rusted brackets helped hold yours? Looks like they held up fine.

So I didn't do it yet, but, I'm collecting the following parts I've ordered over the last two weeks for install:

- new kyb top hats
- bilstein 5100s to replace xreas
- ome 885s for the front w/ drivers side fitment kit
- front/rear sway bar bushings
- spidertrax 1.25" spacers
- upper/lower control arm bushings
- new greasable cam bolts

I'm pretty excited. I'll post some before after pics once complete.
