Way to slide in the pics of the turbos like it's nothing!With the clock ticking down on my big summer trip and my supposedly capable seamstress MIA I decided to take matters into my own hands. I swallowed my pride, turned in my man card, went to Walmart and bought the cheapest sewing machine they had. A few hours later, I became an enthusiastic modiste, cutting and pinning and stitching along. A few more hours later, I have a very private and very dark camping curtain setup completed! With the sleeping platform installed they will tuck against the walls tighter at the bottoms but here they are in all their amatuer and crooked glory. Overall investment including the equipment was around $150 (also including culinary bribes to the first failed attempt by unnamed sewer). Easy but time consuming. Hopefully they are worth it.
And now out to the shop to do man things...

Hate to hear that.... i just finished my wheel bearings a few weeks ago. Lots of work. Bought them off of ebay site assembled. Learning experience for sure.
As far as the bilsteins leaking, curious as to what would be causing that.

Got rid of the heinous window visors
what a PITA. Things must have been on there since new or 10 years. I used a hair blower and fishing-leader line to remove the visors them selves. Some came off easy while others busted off in pieces. First i used a interior removal tool and goo gone but it didnt work very well. Then i bought some 3M Specialty Adhesive Remover. Yeah its $20 a can BUT it worked wonders.

I took my 2006 limited 8 cylinder to the dealership ...
Because my check engine light went on and the VCS lights were on..they are telling me for $900 they can replace the shift solenoid. Although the codes had several issues including that.. Wondering where in these forums might I be able to ask about this?

Geezus Christ, what V8 Twin Turbo powered monster are you working on? If it's for your 4Runner V8, holy crap, how are you going to get those suckers to fit???
$700 with shipping. Wow, BUT those are very nice too. I've bought my visors from that seller. Seriously thinking about buying a second set (for backs up in case something happens to mine).

I wish I was twin turbo-ing the 4runner! However this is just a side job that I picked up to help out a buddy at work who didn't quite have the confidence or tools to tackle it himself. 2011 VW tdi grenaded turbo. Notice the damage on the compressor inlet on the bottom turbo, the shaft snapped and sent the impeller forward into the intake while throwing a bunch of shrapnel into the intercooler. VW quoted him ~$4600 for the repair but he's getting out of it for about a third of that. Apparently I'm known to wrench too much and enjoy it so hey, extra beer money :der:

There are a ton of options, but I have heard a lot of great things about the OME 895 or 895E depending on your weight requirements. I run the Superflex 2.5s and they are pretty great, but they make a 2.0 version. I would also look into Icon's 2.0 springs if you want even more options. Plenty of medium weight springs out there, but I think a lot of people will recommend OME.
Excited to see that thing on a "proper" lift!

Me too!!! Ive been looking at allpro 3.5 since that seems to be a successful combo. others are definitely being considered!
