What did you do with your 4runner today?

Also- I hated the center hubs/caps that came with the stock wheels, and because this is a homemade build we tinkered with what we could use to make the wheels look better. Turns out these Marshmallow Fluff covers fit perfectly! Used some mad art skills (lol) and BOOM, they work! See previous post to see them on the truck. Wheels will soon be painted black.

How in the fork..?
only thing i can guess is its where the mounting point was on the CAI. Had movement and got weak?

Replaced my CAI after I discovered this

happens all the time with cold air intakes and short rams, I'm 100% sure thats the point where its secured to the chassi so it dont vibrate.

Finally got rid of the squeak!!!
I finally had a few minutes to try something to stop the most annoying squeak that I had somewhere in the rear suspension. It was a loud, springy sounding squeak that happened every time the rear suspension moved quickly. It turns out that it was the joint at the bottom of my "medic" end links! I just put a tiny amount of a silicon lubricant on each one to see if it made a difference and it's a whole new vehicle! Ahhh... peace and quiet!

was working on my truck today and had to move my parents 5th gen and noticed that it would not idle up into the driveway like my 4th gen will. does anyone know if this is due to power or how it is geared? every time i drive it i feel like my v6 4th gen has more power but the 5th gens are rated to have more power

FINALLY finished up the RCI skid install. After 7 out of 8 snapped off bolts and lots of pain and frustration and broken drill bits and crap in my eyes and more crap in my ears- I am proud to present--->

Got a turbo muffler and a dinky tip put on, the tip wasn't what I discussed with the exhaust guy, of course he was no where to be found when I picked my truck up. Sounds a million times better than the tiny flow master that was on it

Took the 4Runner round trip from Atlanta to Missouri over the holiday weekend. Our first road trip in it and it was great. Wanted to spend a day at SMORR but it wasn't in the cards this time.
Averaged right at 18 MPG using miles traveled divided by gallons to full, typically going 75+ on the interstate. In normal daily driving, we average about 19.

You got some sort of solar powered propeller pushing you or what? Average daily driving for me gets 14. And I have an extremely light foot. My lie-o-meter won't even be so bold as to tell me I get 19.

I got higher mileage than most when I had my Xterra too, and this is why (I think): we live out in a rural area so the great majority of my driving is right around 40 to 50 mph, which as I understand at least, is the sweet spot for getting the best MPG in most vehicles. Every trip I take starts and ends with 18 minutes of cruising at those speeds with very little stop and go. On the freeways where I live, it's typically 70 mph or under. So in summary, for the most part, we don't do stop and go and don't get the MPG penalty of higher speeds.
As for method, I reset the trip odometer at each fill-up and divide what's on it by what it takes to fill up the next time. If anyone has a more accurate way to go about it, please lmk.
The dash panel says around 21 MPG on average btw but as has been discussed ad nauseam in the forum, those numbers are unreliable at best.

Finally found a shop willing to get the five bolts out of the frame that I snapped the heads off of when I removed my hitch. My mechanic didn't want the hassle. The guys he recommended didn't want the liability. Finally the guys they recommended agreed to do it. Barely. I could tell he was trying to get me to give up but I persisted. Took him probably two hours, charged me $100. Reasonable. Now it's time to get the remainder of my hitch parts powder coated and reinstalled.
