I wish I could have bought it back and made a profit by parting it out. Everything else was perfect on it. Insurance only gave me 9k for it.

That's why I have gap coverage on all my vehicles. Always worth it. Sucks man, glad you are back in another one!

What does that mean? I had full coverage (collision + everything else) but the other driver was at fault so we settled entirely through them - Erie Insurance. Once they told me it was totaled I tried to argue for higher value but they wouldn't budge. I feel as though I should have been given replacement value but they disagreed. When appraising it, they also only credited me $200 for the nearly brand new $1000 KO2's I put on it..

All in all not a terrible deal since I got this 03 for same value ($9200) with same miles (~150,000) but still a little annoying.

haha hood was not touched in the wreck, so I'm sure someone will buy the truck from a salvage auction and part everything out on ebay.

I wish I could have taken a lot of parts off it. I want its beefier trailer hitch and the rear JBL sub box for my new one..

If you owe 12k on your vehicle, and insurance is only willing to pay 9k, gap covers that extra amount. Doesn't sound like that's what happened to you though.

I was on the other end of this nonsense. I hit someone, totally my fault. Six months later I got a call from my insurance saying they were suing for neck damage so I may be called to court. Well I also happened to know someone who worked with the doctor that saw the woman for her neck injuries. The doctor said in zero uncertain terms that the problems with her neck were not from the accident.

I felt like calling the insurance company back and telling them that but couldn't because the person that told me those things broke HIPAA laws when they told me. I never heard back from the insurance company so I don't know what ever happened.

I don't actually advocate actually doing it, just don't like hearing stories where insurance companies pull crap like that. I guess he fair value for his truck since that is what he paid. but asking for 800 more isn't really asking a whole lot when he can cause more trouble for them.

edit I'm glad nothing came about your lawsuit. but can you sue at 6 months? I guess the person realized she didn't have a case if the doctor said that isn't the source of her pain. if the doctor has to provide a statement he isn't going to lie on oath whether you had the inside info or not.

I think it varies state by state but in Indiana you have 2 years to file a lawsuit!

In other news, my extreme frame prep and chassis saver paint is showing it's age after almost 2 years on no maintenance top coats and poor washing habits. Some rock chips here and there, scraped skids, and rust creeping at the edges of welds, intersections, and from the inside out through any opening in the frame. Summer/fall are too busy and winter is too cold so maybe in the spring I'll clean and touch up paint but for now I got some fluid film, and let me tell you this stuff stinks! Smell has almost dissipated a day later but it really does smell like old people. I can't decide if my grandparents lived so long because this is what they bathed in or if because they lived so long the folks at Eureka harvested some smelly chemicals from them to synthesize, mass produce, and sell it to us as corrosion preventative for our t4r's. Come to find out it's actually lanolin based, aka wax squeezed from sheep glands, maybe we should try it with ducks too. Either way you people preaching this stuff might be on to something, it's difficult to wash off yet dirt washes off of it pretty easily. I'll apply some more and update in the spring.

seems like it, only time will tell. last drain and fill, couldnt do an accurate fluid level check since it was hot. this time i took it in, the truck was still cold and i was 15 mins away. left the truck there and took about 2 and half hours total. inspected it in the lot and saw that they did use the cooler lines to do the service. at the same time, i look at my radiator and saw build up at the bottom, thought it was leaking, so i just rinse it off and turns out, still good.

We've already booked the vehicle ferry to Cape Lookout. Can't wait.

We're north of Corolla, a few miles south of the border. Takes about a half hour driving the beach up the coast to get here. I highly recommend it.

We saw the mustangs in Corolla last time we went to the OBX. It's beautiful up there. Going south this time - Emerald Isle.
