Stripping the 4.7L V8 was not as bad a I thought. Only took a couple hours this morning to get everything off of it. The scrap yards don't like all the plastic stuff.

did you take off the exhaust manifold? not sure if there is a market for used rewelded ones...

edit: I Did do a search for all your posts, and saw tbelt slipage =[.

edit 2: What is the leak from near the top intake

Looks awesome!!! I have the same 4Runner but my paint and cladding could use some work. Any ideas on what I could do to bring the plastic back to life?

Prior owner had tried to use some sort of clear coat on my 2003 gray cladding (looked terrible). I used something called Motsenbockers Lift Off from Home depot to remove the clear and followed with Aerospace 303 protectant. I had intended to paint the cladding with a satin plastic coating but liked the way the restored cladding looked so I left it as is. Once a month with the 303 seems to be keeping the look. Will try to post a pic this weekend.

wanted an extra outlet so added the smokers kit. No tools needed, total install time was about 5 mins and it was the best $25 bucks i have spent on the truck. Totally worth it.

Took off the air intake plenum. The area in top is where the starter and secondary air pump sits with the air intake plenum over that. The attached photo show what it looked like before.

There was no leaks, I just wanted to see if the cams were OK...just being curious. Guess it didn't matter its in the scrap yard now. I got was $50.

Took her out on the property yesterday afternoon...man, she looks good still! Larger tires are up next but for the time being, she's holding strong...

Well...tire's were between 10 to 15 psi low

cranked um up to the tire max of 44 psi (hankook atm 255/75/17) and the trucks completely different in a great way. Only real bummer is the brewery over filled my growler and it spewd on the seat..so now it smells like Aroma Coma IPA..

Put a 600W PSW inverter in. I'm not sure why more people don't do it. It's a fairly easy $200 upgrade.

The girl got a new cv boot and axle assembly, water pump, rear brake pads, oil change, and radiator at the dealership, for just $1125. She was there for eight hours, but she feels a lot better, for having 201k on her.

Hood restoration.. Sort of

Well today I'm doing my timing belt and other stuff but here's a before and after of my hood . Was being sun baked up in Phoenix before I got it , I got a lot of the shine back but some of it is irreparable.

After. This was using meguiars #2 fine cut cleaner after wet sanding. All by hand, machine would have been nice. Also did the headlights and fogs.

Just got done doing a transmission fluid exchange. I used the method of disconnecting the line and letting it pump out into a measuring bucket. I had my son turn the vehicle on and off as I pumped fresh fluid through with a chemical sprayer I modified and attached to the fixture on the radiator. Took a total of 30 minutes. Old fluid was so opaque and nasty.

I've also been trying to get the rear differential fill bolt off on the weekends with no luck. I'd more or less rounded it off. I happened to be driving yesterday, and there was this classic car restoration shop with it's garage up. I paid the owner $5 to crack off the bolt for me. I had the replacement waiting at home, so I was able to get that changed with Mobil 1. Changed the engine oil with Mobil 1 while I was at it, as well.
