could be dc ballast and not ac type, ac ballast are better, usually the dc kits are priced at 50 and under. for better ballast, get it from www.theretrofitsource.com

Well dudes, it has been about a month since I've driven my T4R since the drunk driver ran into it, but the body shop has repaired it and the insurance claim is finally making headway. I have to say, the body shop did a great job repairing everything even though it was a big job. They said it was at 95% of total loss. Hopefully all the repairs were done well and I will have no more issues. Here's a couple pics of the Cap'n as well as the invoice from the shop.

Yeah, I got the bulbs for free from a guy I know and the ballasts for like $20 used (Xentec *vomit*). I basically just wanted to see if they would actually output light in the stock projector housings (driving it at night finally tonight so I'll be able to see if they do) and will do a better setup down the road with TRS Morimoto ballasts/harness/bulbs.
That's interesting though. I'd never heard about the DC vs AC difference. Any quick way to tell? And why does that make a difference in the color?

Installed Bilstein 5100's and FJ coils at all four corners. Unfortunately, I lost the piece of paper that I wrote the "before" numbers on so I don't know how much I gained. It is definitely up a few inches in the front and now it's nice and level. Feels great too!

besides the price, the start up times, let say theres 2 kits thats 6000k, the ac version will make it a cool white look, while the dc will make it a bluer look, so the bulbs are not at there full potential. dc kits will last 6 months if your lucky, bulbs flicker alot. the ballast is good, but the bulbs suck ass for fitment, the so called 9006 bulb is like a universal type crap they have, its a mix to fit the 9005 and 9006 bulb socket. DDM Tuning: HID and LED Lighting

Don't get too caught up about AC vs DC ballast designs, but ballasts you'll find on say a $25 eBay HID kit will most likely not produce 35 watts of output (the power output on factory HID systems). Like a regular incandescent bulb, lower wattage = less output, and with HIDs the color is does change too. I have purchased cheap eBay kits but for the bulbs, I've tried the included ballasts for the hell of it and there is a difference in output when swapping to a ballast that actually produces 35w output. Especially with the 3000K (yellow) bulbs, with the crappy ballasts you get a greenish tint to the output.

Nice, I need to get my shocks rebuilt soon and need a new front skid as well.
I'm really close to being happy with my 4runner again after like 9 months of wanting to burn it to the ground.

I didn't do anything physically to the runner but getting parts together to do preventative maintenance on the front suspension. I'm doing Rokman UCAs. Replacing the sway bar end links and contemplating buying new LCAs for ball joints replacement.
I've scoured through many of the links related to this but wanted to get some fresh opinions on parts from Summit. Recommendations on sources for replacement parts would be appreciated. I want quality parts.
