What did you do with your 4runner today?

Nothing special today, just Plasti-dipped and spray painted the wheels. Turned out pretty well!

The RC has the black backing plate on it. Idk if yours does it hard to see. And I'm not in the market for one for another month or 2.. gotta order my rear shocks and save for a motorcycle. Thanks for the offer though

Body mount chop complete. Super simple, but on the drivers side I'm still rubbing at lock but just barely. Other than that I don't have to take up 4 lanes to U turn [emoji18]

Nothing today but I did drop the tank last weekend and replaced my fuel pump... didn't fix the random stalling issue I've been having but it was worth the experience, right?....

Hawk pads & Stoptech rotors on the rear - complete. I still need to adjust the parking brake, however. I had to have a heated discussion with my tool assistant as to why such a thing exists. My tool assistant is my riding buddy who has minimal mechanical skills. But he can fetch beers as well, so that's ok I guess.

On the front, Hawk pad-slap on the passenger's side. Driver's side . . .of course one of the 4 pistons wouldn't retract without heat & the persuasion bar. So off to NAPA in the morning for a front caliper for the 3rd time.

Edit: driver's side caliper lasted 50 months and 28K miles. Thanks for the lifetime warranty, NAPA, but I'd rather just not have the hassle.

Hey there i have a 92 4runner with a possible head gasket issue,,, i think?? just looking for some additional advise, today when trying start it it would not crank (almost like it was sized or the battery was dead) for the first 2 tries, and then it sputtered up without even cranking. it started blowing out some pretty white smoke that defiantly did have a sweet smell to it. it was idealing pretty rough and a had a bit of a shake to it. but once i started driving it ran fine. until i noticed the engine temp was dangerously high, i pulled it over to let it cool down. tried turning on the cabin heater to help it cool down but for some reason it was not putting out any heat.

Reasons why i think it is a head gasket:
-Sweet smelling white exhaust
-over heating
-very low coolant levels (little leaking near front left of engine well)

Reasons why i think it may be something else...
- firstly! no milky oil on the dipstick or oil cap
-no heat moving in from engine to cabin
-previous power steering pump sounding whine instantly went away
-coolant reservoir very low and can not see any bubbling or coolant for that matter at top of rad when running

i cant see any other reason why the exhaust would have that sweet smell and be exceptionally white, other then coolant getting into the engine... any ideas guys?? please help!!

You're in the wrong section, but do you have the 22RE or 3VZE? I can try to help. They both had individual issues

Love my Optima. Ten years old and still cranking it up when it was near twenty below. Just replaced the one in the car that was over ten years old too.

Ever have issues with it takes forever for your truck to warm up? Literally takes mine 30 minutes to kick out decent heat when it's this cold.

Sometimes it takes a while, but not 30 mins... My car was so cold the other day that the LED's in the dash were frozen and wouldn't light

Made a simple box to keep the trash stash, Kleenex and baby wipes from rolling around in the back. Got tired of fishing around to find it when the kids need it at the most inopportune driving time (usually on the freeway). Used simple 1/4 inch project board from Home Depot and finished it off with leftover carpet from my utility containers in the trunk.

LOL, i gave up trying to keep the back of my Runner clean with my 5 year old and 15 month baby. It's just not possible.

I don't see how you would have any issues with sun and heat seeing how you're located on the Dark Side of the Moon!!:shrug:
