What did you do with your 4runner today?

After going through 2 belts in 15k miles I decided to change the tensioner, idler and belt as one. Belts keep squealing after 7-8k everytime, drives me nuts. And while on this topic, the V8 tensioner sucks to replace, I have done tensioners on dozens of different cars, the V8 4runner is by far the biggest hassle.

Also installed one of my new CVJ axles to replace the Autozone one I used in an emergency, it had already started leaking at the boot. Will do the other one some other time.

I used a few coats of pastidip on my first emblem before painting... Wasn't sure if I'd like it. But.. I do.

So the rest, I sanded down a little bit then sprayed with this: (color is hwp 102 graphite)

I don't care about looks, but I did hear it scrape a couple weeks ago, and I've been wondering about it since... Presumably behind the wheel like pictured earlier is the best option for ensuring it stays in one piece? Any downsides to that?

I know you cant ride motorcycle in a national forest unless it has a spark resistor..wouldnt that be the same for a vehicle? :fro:

Yeah, all BLM lands require "Properly maintained muffler or spark arrester". That's sort of why I was wondering what (if any) restrictions there are on modifying that.

Problem with Toyota World

I had a terrible experience with my runner yesterday at newark Toyota world service shop. I brought the truck in to have a recall fixed, and just so happens to take pics of the truck before I brought it there. I evI n took picks of it while it was inside there garage. Any way to make a long story short, I got my truck back from them with scratches and gouges to my front bumper. Now my bumper had been previously damaged and had a crack in it and a dent, that I fixed myself and made it look as good as I could which I think I did a decent job. But these scratches and chips in the paint that you see in this picture, and the scratches on the grill wee def not there before hand. I tried to show them my picture evidence and of course they denied everything and said they looked at the video of the truck being there and nothing came into contact with it. I wasn't trying to get a new bumper out of these people but I wanted something done (am I wrong for thinking that way?) This manager argued and argued with me like as if I just made this stuff up to get a new bumper out of them, overall I am very upset by all this obviously and I will be finding another place to service my truck for sure. The paper work they fill out when you arrive at the shop that shows any damage to the truck before they receive it had a circle in the spot of the scratch but I honestly feel like the guy circled the spot before he showed me the paper acting as if it was already there.... ugh.... I don't know how to prove to everyone that i took these pics before hand, idk how to show the time stamp I guess you'll just have to take my word for it, but I think you can see pretty clearly that there is no white T shaped scratch and gouges in the before pic....

From CVJ. As far as I know they only sell direct. $143 each with the red boot upgrade. Plus shipping of course. (Mine was $25)

All correct ...but your muffler already does that "muffler or spark arrester" do you see BLM rangers rig with a resonator on it ? I haven't ...and my neighbor is a BLM ranger. He chuckled and said regardless that would be one last things they are worried about or looking for, as long as your respecting the land and not being an idiot or a douche bag just thrashing up the area ...then have a good time.

I do appreciate the information. Happen to know a good muffler place in the Riverside/Corona area? I don't think that yotamasters or Demello (the two shops I'd normally think of) does that sort of thing...

stick a branch into the pipe of my XR once checking for a spark resistor in TNF. Funny thing was i had already done a 49 state conversion by replacing the Ca spark resistor and rejetting it and he could tell...

OK then, the damn resonator is coming off. Peace

Installed some LED Taillights after work. Pretty pleased with the look. New headlights and turn signals came as well, but too cold to deal with those today. I need a garage!
