What did you do with your 4runner today?

I thought you recently replaced with Power Stop. Not the quality you were expecting?

I had them originally and will be removing the rears. The rotors were uncoated so they began to rust in Chi-town. Centric parts are better quality - the fronts are holding up very well.

Got relocated to the Lonestar state from the Keystone state so drove it S by SW and made a pit stop at the makers mark distellery along the way. Stella is a beast and liking the new Texas weather.... she needs a bath though.

What part of Texas?

Good to know from someone in a similar area. I suspect I have a caliper beginning to freeze so I'm replacing my fronts in the spring.

V6 orV8? Which one did you go with? Single out the back or dual side exit? How much drone do you get on the highway?

I've been contemplating the dual side exit since my resonator rotted off my V8 on a road trip to Kentucky. I do 160 miles a day highway so a droning exhaust would drive me crazy :/

V6. I went with the single out back. I get more sound resonating inside driving local street then on highway. On highway drive it quiets down a bit havent tried it at 80 max i have done is 70. And its alright doesnt bother me really. I sometimes feel the floor vibrate. Lol:twitch: outside doesnt really sound much louder but it does sound nice.

Blew the rear hard brake line on the way to my buddy's shop to install the rack, skids, and lift. Since it took 3 hours to go buy and bend the new lines I didn't get much else done. It stops now though....and that's something.

The Rola vortex is now welded and painted. The low-profile mounts I made need just a bit of tuning still.

Finished installing 3" spacer lift. Removed the running boards. Wash and wax. Admired the new look. Love it!

Nice! Any other aftermarket suspension setup with it? Tire size?

No other suspension mods yet. But the XReas is coming off as soon as the Bilstein 5100s that I ordered get here. I'm running 265/70/17s. They need to be replaced. Looking at 275 or 285 BFG ATs

Were oil changes difficult before??[emoji12]

some people are not the best. my brother came over to change his oil in his tacoma. i walk outside the trans is empty. it was a fun day for him. i got him one of these as well

2004 V8 Sport. From what I understand not any different than any other 2003-2005 4runner. Changed bumper style in 2006 refresh.

Haha. You edited your post as I was responding. In 2006 the reflectors were integrated into tail lights and markers went away. No actual bulb in US 2003-2005 models

Thank you so much! I was starting to think it was prior to the refresh but I have always preferred that bumper. It just looks more aggressive in my opinion.

Make sure to check out the 4th gen suspension sticky.

http://www.toyota-4runner.org/4th-gen-t4rs/102272-4th-gen-suspension-options-faq.html

BFG's rub where other brands of the same size don't. And you may want to consider narrower and taller like 255/75 unless you're looking at doing a pretty good lift like 3/2. Anyway, it's looking great. Can't wait to see the progress.

Came up with an easy and cheap way to mount Treds to the stock rails:

Four 1/4" X 4" eye bolts:

<a data-flickr-embed="true" href="https://www.flickr.com/photos/wolffman17/32538836366/in/datetaken/" title=" "><img src="https://c1.staticflickr.com/1/641/32538836366_4ff0e000fa.jpg" width="500" height="375" alt=" "></a><script async src="//embedr.flickr.com/assets/client-code.js" charset="utf-8"></script>

Two 7/32" X 6-1/4" turnbuckles:

<a data-flickr-embed="true" href="https://www.flickr.com/photos/wolffman17/32426596182/in/datetaken/" title=" "><img src="https://c1.staticflickr.com/1/782/32426596182_23f9c1ecf2.jpg" width="500" height="375" alt=" "></a><script async src="//embedr.flickr.com/assets/client-code.js" charset="utf-8"></script>

Four each, washers and wing nuts:

<a data-flickr-embed="true" href="https://www.flickr.com/photos/wolffman17/32426596652/in/datetaken/" title=" "><img src="https://c1.staticflickr.com/1/697/32426596652_72d5db773c.jpg" width="375" height="500" alt=" "></a><script async src="//embedr.flickr.com/assets/client-code.js" charset="utf-8"></script>

Thread the eye bolts through the turnbuckle eye bolts, like so:

<a data-flickr-embed="true" href="https://www.flickr.com/photos/wolffman17/32426596912/in/datetaken/" title="Untitled"><img src="https://c1.staticflickr.com/1/556/32426596912_32bc373943.jpg" width="500" height="375" alt="Untitled"></a><script async src="//embedr.flickr.com/assets/client-code.js" charset="utf-8"></script>

Secure to rails, like so:

<a data-flickr-embed="true" href="https://www.flickr.com/photos/wolffman17/32538835146/in/datetaken/" title=" "><img src="https://c1.staticflickr.com/1/379/32538835146_c3b712a2c1.jpg" width="500" height="375" alt=" "></a><script async src="//embedr.flickr.com/assets/client-code.js" charset="utf-8"></script>

<a data-flickr-embed="true" href="https://www.flickr.com/photos/wolffman17/32579475095/in/datetaken/" title=" "><img src="https://c1.staticflickr.com/1/307/32579475095_a1d86072e5.jpg" width="500" height="375" alt=" "></a><script async src="//embedr.flickr.com/assets/client-code.js" charset="utf-8"></script>

Pros:
-They are snug and secure. Zero movement or noise.
-Super cheap -- above hardware costs < $8 at Home Depot.

Cons:
-Unsure of strength, but I'm certain they'll hold up. Weight of the Treds and force is on the rails, not the hardware.
-It takes a minute or two to get on and off.
-Many loose parts to keep track of if you have to use the Treds.

Nice cheap idea without modifying anything. I used a pair of Rok straps (motorcycle gear) to hold mine onto the stock crossbars, and wrapped the crossbars in neoprene to dampen any rattles although I didn't try it without, it would probably be fine.

Installed bilstein 6112s up front, BOSS rear shocks, OME 895e coils, Goodyear duratracs, and method standard wheels on Friday then took her up to ski and play in the snow!
