What did you do with your 4runner today?

Dropped my baby off at C4Fabrication for front and rear bumpers. Swing out with tire carrier and either Jerry can or Rotopax mounts and a fold down camp table. Smittybilt X20 10k winch, Baja Designs S8 30" light bar, BD Squadron Pro's for the front and Squadron Sports for the rear. I've been waiting forever to finally get this done. C4 makes some next level stuff and I'm hoping my stuff follows suit. The only problem is that they will be moving shops and so it's going to take longer than usual, which is going to be hard as I'm so excited. Need to figure out something big for the wife after the re-gear, lockers and skid plates last spring and now this- problem is I'm too broke now. Haha.

Hey Blackoutt, I have a similar hitch carrier I use to haul around my Beta 390. I love how easy it is to load and unload the bike.

Are the red lights on your carrier reflectors or functioning turn signals? I want to add turn signals to my carrier but haven't the slightest clue what kind of wiring I would need to do so. I have an '06 SR5 4Runner with the towing package, so I do have an outlet to the left side of the hitch underneath. I think it's a 6 or 7 pin connector. Any ideas?

Those are just reflectors in mine but I have a riding buddy who put lights in his versahaul. For an easy install you could use a prewired kit like this one, and this adapter from 4 pin to the factory 7 pin round plug.

I have an all silver 05 Sport with no contrasting middle bumper part. On my list is to paint or plastidip it black. I like the contrast.

Here's the bumper. I think it looks pretty sweet. I pulled in the wrong direction in a couple places and took a little too much off, but you can't really see it in the picture. I'll probably go back in when I do the front to touch it up.

Y my dome light started to flicker and the cargo one burn out. Only had it for two months

Quality was a concern when switching from Philips to Yorkim, but I figure for the price, I'll give them a shot. I'll report back if I have issues.

March 2017 maintenance and preparation for May trip to FTR/Alberta

I managed to dedicate most of today to a number of pending items.

Done today (whew)

[x] replace license plate screws - take tap and other tools
[x] install ProClip CB handset mount
[x] install additional crossbars (in storage)
[x] measure current ride heights f 19.75 r 21.25/21.75 (also updated FJ springs post)
[x] check air and cabin air filters
[x] check fluids - added some PS fluid
[x] check alternator How to Test a Car Alternator
[x] clean and grease corroded battery terminals How to Clean Car Battery Terminals With Baking Soda | eHow
[x] inspect spare including age and tread depth: Bridgestone Dueler H/T P265/65R17 8/32" - seems to hold air
[x] perform zero-point calibration - use pin 12 instead of 14 - take OBD II reader and wires/paper clips
[x] check fit of aluminum receiver bracket
[x] discuss O2 sensor CEL P0156/P0157

Still to do during the next couple of months

[ ] test CB radio
[ ] affix stickers
[ ] install backup camera - need to order some more parts
[ ] oil change @ 188k miles

This is starting to look more like a real roof rack. I really like its ultra-low profile and affordability.

i like that someone has put in more cross bars. i took out mine for my rola mounts and wanted to see how it would look with 4. seems like it might be able to fit 6 cross bars in the rack from your photo

What's your suspension setup?

Toytec adjustable coilovers, 5100 shocks in the back with toytec superflex coils. 33/12.5 Atturo Trail blades with (1.25 spidertrax spacers shown in pic) adding 2" body lift soon to level things out.

It's going to be custom. The shop I took it to for install specializes in exhaust so I figured they'd do just fine with it. I'll take some shots when I get it back.

1. I have a body lift (1.25") and the headers interfered with the steering rack. They had to adjust it. Possibly with a hammer...
2. They actually moved my engine off the mounts to finish the install of the headers.

Greased the new ball joint and greased the drivetrain.

Nice.

1. Steering shaft slipjoint hits the header. They can dent the header to clear. With my 1" body lift I was able to get away with a shorter headed bolt.
2. Engine must be removed from mounts (one side at a time) to install headers per DT instructions so yes it sounds scary but really not that big of a deal.

Got a factory sport tube roof rack delivered and instantly dropped it off to line-x to get sprayed.. can't wait to install it in a couple days
