What did you do with your 4runner today?

Humped the trailer 230 miles from Raton, NM on I25N, got 14.8mpg, I like it. The devil is in the details, so here they are.

3300lb low-profile Trailmanor trailer, Chevron 91 octane, apx 400lbs in the Runner, nothing on the roofrack, steady crosswind only, no headwind or tailwind.

65 mph was probably the key factor, was in 5th gear about 75% of the time, 4th gear 25%, a short foray into 3rd to climb/descend Raton Pass.

Sweet multipurpose vehicle.

Hydro Carbon Filter deleted....Easy as pie. Topped off my tank and noted my current milage. Will try to keep track to see if it helps my MPG.

Cut down the foam mattress for the back of 4runner. Made it so we could take the individual pieces out if we need the rear seats. Just have to cover it with a comforter so our doge can enjoy the back. They love to watch out of the windows as we are driving. It was hard to find a thick foam so we bought a 12" bed and cut out two inches of memory foam and two inches of memory gel, it left us with 8" of foam. Perfect size.

Bit the bullet and bought some tires since mine are down to the wear bars...Went with 265/70-17 General Grabber AT2s with an E load rating (same tires I currently have, but I bought the last set used).

FYI if you buy tires through DiscountTireDirect on eBay you can use a code to get $100 off. DiscountTireDirect's website only has $50 off the same tires, so I was able to save a good chunk of change that way. I got the set of 4 for $668 shipped

Fabricated my new rear crossmember and tow hitch

I finally got around to making and installing my new rear cross-member. I cut out the old one because it wouldn't accommodate my planned bumper design. The new cross-member is closer to the body and should improve my departure angle slightly. It will also serve as a solid support for my bumper and swing arms.

Put my TRD wheels from an older truck...I think it looks great. Got some rubbing with the driver side front liner with the 265/70 grapplers and I'm trying to figure out how to push the front liner. I've read it on the forums but can't visually see what I'm supposed to do. Also will adding a lift get rid of the rubbing?

How long did the mattress end up being?

From a full size mattress after being cut to shape it is 5ft 10 inches long and 53 inches wide.

Went to the off road expo sunday here in texas. Pretty cool event, they had a obatical course with some rock crawling, the 4runner did pretty good.
