What did you do with your 4runner today?

I'm currently selling my 2008 Toyota Sequoia because I prefer my T4R and I don't drive the Sequoia anymore. Last night I was texting a potential buyer for the Sequoia. We started chatting about Toyotas and I sent him some pics of my T4R. Needless to say, his response seen below made my night, week, year even!! LOL!

2008 Limited. 4x4. 99k miles. 5.7 v8. Awesome power. Great for cutting people off. Blue exterior, gray leather interior. Loaded with everything except the fridge. Huge. Doesn't fit in any reasonable parking spot. Pompous. Doesn't fit on many off road trails. Always maintained. Immaculate interior because I have OCD issues. Grandma-mobile. No rust issues with frame or body. Sucky rear independent suspension (need I say more). RUN AWAY AND STICK WITH 4RUNNER.

Asking $19k.
LOL.

More PB Blaster more torch more profanity more BFH. Alignment cam bolts still seized after a week of PB Blaster every day.

Time for Mr sawzall and new bushings on the front of each LCA

Thanx Toyota for not using 25 cents worth of anti seize

I'm with you about the anti seize. When I install any bolt or screw I use anti seize, white grease, brake lube, silicone, anything to keep moisture out.

Toytec Boss kit delivered today for this '08 Limited V8 I bought. Same kit as I have on the '07 that has done fine with airbags which I'll add. 600lb springs front, standard RCC2.0 springs rear, no diff drop. Canceled the automatic doorlocking (page 25-26 in the owners manual).

Transferred to the '08 the spiderweb Toyota cargo net meant for the cargo floor but used on the cargo area roof for storage. It's hard to describe how it's set up. I got the idea from this thread, there's a few different methods. It's great for lightweight items like raincoats, ponchos, dry clothes, etc.

Removed all the 194 bulbs from the doors and sidesteps. I'm not a fan of the truck looking like a Christmas tree when a door is opened. If light is needed that's what headlamps are for. These Coast headlamps are a good unit https://coastportland.com/product/hl7/

Installed the slyfox SAIP bypass. Amsoil synthetic in the driveline is next up and zerk grease.

I thought the SAIP bypass wouldn't work on the 2008s?

Did a tire rotation and wiped and sprayed down all my suspension components with fluid film while in there. Also finished my USB port

Worked fine for me on this '08 4.7l. Slyfox told me he had sold a few kits to '08 - '09 owners with no complaints. I compared the '07's fuse box and MAF wiring, all was the same. Same fusebox setup, same color coding and sequence left-to-right on the MAF wires.

I didn't hear the brief "oomph" on cold startup, so that tells me the kit is working.

Removed old X-Reas suspension and replaced them with Bilstein 5100's front and rear. Noticeable difference compared to the old suspension. Only took about 3 hours to remove and install.

What setting did you go with and did you install the Daystar 1.5 spacer in the rear? I am about to purchase some 5100's and deciding to go with the 1.75 or 2.45 setting.

I'm doing that this spring only with an OME low lift kit. I'm worried about rust though, trying to decide if I want to do it myself or pay a shop.

I was really just trying to level my car out. I'm not planning on lifting it at all, so I went with the first lift notch witch was .85" I think. The only thing I might do is get FJ springs for the rear.

You really won't have to worry about the rust honestly. Unless you're planning on returning to the original suspension setup in the future. If the bolts on the frame break off it's really no big deal. You can still remove everything by cutting the lines off and removing/breaking a few bolts off. The rest is all plastic clips that will break anyway!

When I did mine, I left the banjo bolts in the shocks with the short section of hose hanging off. I just set a pan underneath the strut tamer to catch any oil that drops.

Granted it took me a little while because I was doing this by myself, but it's not difficult. The only time I needed help was to get someone to stand on the rear axle so I could get the longer springs and spacer in. I sprayed everything with Blaster a few weeks before and the day before. No issues except the top of rear shocks. The cutoff wheel made quick work of that. Pulling the XREAS was fairly straightforward.

Our 4Runner took us out to have my wife's Birthday dinner last night. It handled great on the mountain roads with the extra weight of two full bellies. They claim 16 oz minimum but could be up to 20oz. Sure glad the springs didn't sag as we had to drive through Idaho, cross the border into BC. Canada. Did not feel any brake fade with the extra weight as we approached Canada Customs. Of course we declared our meals at the border.
