What did you do with your 4runner today?

Replaced front pass. caliper with AutoZone duralast. New pads too. All new hardware. Old rotors. Truck had been pulling left at stops since I bought it almost 2 years ago. Pretty easy job.

I normally wouldn't post this kinda stuff, but I'm sitting here feeling accomplished and I live with three girls. Lol.

Tire rotation and underbody touch up, a little wire brush and painting.

Finished my audio upgrade today. Swapped out the factory radio for a Joying android unit along with adding a back up camera and console USB/Audio input. I have the JBL system so I used the amplifier integration and also used the PAC to retain steering wheel controls. The sound is perfectly fine as it sits now but I see myself upgrading the amp and speakers in the future. Instead of adding the ca,era on the outside I mounted it inside above the window, an idea I stole from a member on this site but can't remember who. It works great and camera never gets dirty plus I didn't have to mess with phishing wires through the tailgate.

I know this is nothing compared to the hell y'all put your truck's through, but I took her through some mud for my first time today.. trying to make myself less anal about this thing and actually use it for what it's made for. I just really hate cleaning mud.

LMAO!!! It's bothering me too but it was late when I finished putting it back together and I didn't have it in me to fix it. I'll get to it soon. But what's really going to drive me nuts is that the ports are labeled "charge" and "audio" and the functions are reversed. Probably just going to black out the lettering.I guess that's what happens with cheap Chinese products.

I don't think it is compatible. I don't use sat. radio so wasn't a concern for me but I haven't come across any settings or info related to it.

Gas cap time

Well, kind of a minor thing, and then one pretty cool/easy thing.

Had to get a new gas cap - old one's rubber gasket finally wouldn't hold the gas cap closed anymore. Three minute swap, if that.

My right-side steering wheel switches for voice activation and phone pick up / hang up came in. Fifteen minute installation - went in nearly effortlessly - hardest part was taking off the covers on the sides of the steering wheel to access the Torx screws that hold the horn / airbag assembly in. Pathetic, I know, but those flimsy little panels have me fits.

Now I'm ready to get an aftermarket 7" motorized touchscreen head unit with nav and Bluetooth with an iDatalink Maestro interface to keep all factory functions, steering wheel controls, and the JBL Synthesis system intact until I am ready for a speaker replacement.

I don't get the hate many folks have for the JBL 10 speaker Synthesis system. Mine sounds really good to me, especially for an 11-year-old vehicle. Sure, I've heard better, but I have heard far, far worse.

Proper aftermarket JBL component speakers will go in at some point along with appropriate amps, but for now, I'll be happy with a nav head unit upgrade with backup camera.

Just saw the picture of that prime rib on my big screen and it made my mouth water. We used to have a place nearby that did a big one like that but it's long gone. I'd have to really travel to find something like that from here.

technically yesterday - Wash, then clay bar wash, then a final wash. If you haven't used the clay bar, I highly recommend it. It really gets those pesky deposits that don't come out with a normal wash. One of these days, I'll get to polish it with a very light compound.

LKQ-Pick Your Part - Austin

On a whim, I looked up the local pick your part website, looking for 4th gen runners. Typically rare at junk yards. I saw they had just gotten two, an 04 and an 06. According to the site, available 3/24/17. I have been looking for some minor interior pieces, so I decided to go take a look. In the short time these two were on the lot, they had been picked clean. Engines, transmissions, dash, etc, all gone. Luckily, I found the few interior pieces I needed, and, since both runners were silver, the interior matched mine. Pic is just a few of the pieces I was looking for. Also got a piece to hold my visor in place, and a new arm rest. Surprised/not surprised at how quickly they were scavenged.

Tires rotated (back straight to front, front crisscross to rear) and took the dogs out. They're definitely enjoying the rear window and extra cargo space.

Started on the rear Metaltech kit. Only had about 2 hours to work today and achieved the installation of one single rear coil spring. These motherf*****s are about 4 and a half inches longer than my old RC springs and I had to disconnect both sides of the axle and the upper control arm to get it to sag low enough to muscle him up there. Fun stuff

Yeah, I had to take mine to a shop to install the Metaltech springs.

Not enough jacks and jack stands and I was standing on the axle to get it to droop enough. Just shy of cramming them in there but I was tired of messing with it.
