Are those custom front recovery points? Or something you bought?
They started out as custom, but i'm selling them now. PM me for details if you're interested.

I used that same 3m kit 2 years ago and it did a great job BUT there's no UV sealant, so I've had to redo with the finest grit about a year later.
I'm about to do it again but this time I'm using a Turtle Wax kit that has a sealer as well. Hopefully it lasts longer.
Can't beat 18mpg on a lifted modded armored 12 year old truck and the mpg gauge works too![]()

I was doing between 65 and 80 most of the timeThat's about what is get with my 2004 V8.
What is your average speed on the display?
My average displayed speed is usually around 28 to 31 MPH, but the displayed MPG is usually around 19.8 to 20.1, but I do hand calculations everytime I fill up and it's works out to right at 18 +/- MPG, this is all urban/city mixed driving, on the highway the MPGs get better by 2 to 4 MPG depending on how much I put my foot into the gas pedal.

Only needed one cv shaft, but since they were cheap on rock auto, replaced both shafts and the seals. Several hours and lots of yelling later, we were all set!![]()

Keep your OEM CVs.
They are much much better than any cheap aftermarket Chinese crap CVs.
The cheap ones snap under power. Lots of threads about it.
Rebuild the OEM ones for a backup unless they're clicking. They're very valuable to people who seriously off road!
I feel you on the yelling the first time!
I can get them in and out in minutes now, but the first time traumatized me. Damn!
Right on! I was keeping the good one, but now I'll save both.
I have them in my garage. Where can I have them rebuilt? The driver side shaft had nothing wrong with it( aside from aged rubber I assumed would give out soon). The passenger side was spilling grease from the boot, but I think i caught it early enough.
After a test drive last night I think I awoke another issue. From reading on the forum sounds like it might be a diff needle bearing that's notorious for going bad. Slight noise in 2wd. But goes away in 4wd. Damn 4Runner. I spend more time underneath the damn thing than in the drivers seat. ( was good to me for the first 100k miles)

Been on the fence for 2 years now about trading ours in for a new 4R or LC200... Today I decided to hang on to it for another model year to see what happens with the above two....
So, I invested in a new leather driver side seat cover (the original sidewall is cracked to hell and it annoys the crap out of me every time I open the door to get in the vehicle) and a new rubber switch cover for the rear hatch (which is beginning to degrade finally after 10 years).
