What did you do with your 4runner today?

Almost done with rear bumper.

I got my new fuel can, finally. Made a rack to hold it. Only things left to do in back are finish wiring the backup lights, make a license plate holder, make a latch to lock the fuel can, make a latch to hold the swing arms closed, a few brackets for CB and ham radio antennas, and a backup camera. Sounds like a lot, but not really.

Got a close up picture to how you have the tire locked? In your build thread, the lock isn't on

Took the long bumpy unpaved route to work this morning. Wanted to see how the new bilsteins acted off road. My brain got a shaking that's for sure!

I will take a pic of the lock. It is a simple device. Just a plate that locks onto the wheel carrier and covers the lug nuts.

Here are a few pics of the rear tire lock. Just a simple plate that covers the lug nuts




I glued some rubber on the back so it doesn't mar my new wheels. Works great.

A few pictures from this weekends FJ Northeasters event at Rausch creek PA
Ran the mostly Blue and a few Black trails and the truck did everything I pointed it at very well..next upgrade is definitely going to be bigger tires. I was the smallest truck in the group.

Wired the transmission cooler up and relocated the horns. I really hate wiring but got it done with a mini fuse add a circuit that taps into my fuse box. Had to move the horns to the passenger side.

Water got in my eBay spoiler's 3rd brake light.





I had a water resistant LED laying around, so I fixed it.

I baked the light in the oven for a bit and separated it, removed the old rusted blown out LED board, trimmed the new board to fit, sealed it up, soldered it up and got it finished.

I saw where you were asking what to use to reseal it, what did you end up using to reseal it?

RTV. The front facing lip of the 3rd light hangs down just a little bit. I need to put some kind of clear sealer there now. Water pressure at 78 mph there must be brutal. That's how it happened in the first place.

My old man and I made a shift knob

Pear wood with danish oil.

The width was cut down a little, the above sketch was just a starting point. Also, with a 12mm drill bit we were able to just press in the threaded insert without glue, its pretty tight.

Installed my Blue Sea Systems Fusebox

I enjoy taking my time with electrical projects and making them look as professional as possible. This past weekend I spend a few hours installing my fusebox.

Found a good spot on the drivers side behind the battery and existing fusebox, using existing holes. I believe they are M8x1.25 threads.

Made an aluminum plate for the box to bolt to:

Used 8 GA wire (I wont be running anything huge on this).

Used some conduit to protect the wires from rubbing, and connected them to the battery. I hope it's close enough that I don't need a fuse?

Hopefully this gives you guys some ideas to do the same. :thumb3:

Tried out that turtle wax headlight kit this weekend and didn't like the results. You do it all by hand and they supply you with these 2, -sided little pads (maybe 2" x 2" to do the sanding. It's a real pain in the butt.

Going to use my 3M kit's drill mounted foam pad and leftover sandpapers and try again. Then use the sealant supplied in the Turtle Wax kit.

This is really a job that works best with a machine of some sort, much more even results.

Scored some 2017 rims

Got these off craigslist! Will wait a while since I just put these used tires on mine, and the new rims are 17" instead of my 16". Waiting is the hardest part! Bets on how long until I crack?
